This has fleshed out considerably since the last bottle (how could I have let this sit this long?!). It's now bigger and more ponderous. Still vinous and grapey, but now with lush texture and brooding minerality.

Another fabulous bottle... drinking it with food now and smelling less cherry, but catching some lavender and truffle. Delicious. May have to stock up!

Very excited about this wine. Nose is sour cherry and predicts almost nothing of what is to come when this wine hits the palate: very short fuit attack followed by surprising mushroomy woodsiness that goes on and on. The finish stays for a good 30 seconds and fades into a bit of bitter wood. Reminds me of a comforting campfire somewhat. Not typical at all, considering this is 60% gamay!

ridiculous value. spicey brambles on the nose, medium bodied with an almost frizzante texture in the mouth--no bubbles, but a sense of near-fizz from the minerals and acids. touch of animale. not the slighest bit harsh, however. better than the $35 bottle of trousseau i had the other day.

such a unique expression of a light body wine, with a textural (medium body) dimension that doesn't seem all dominated by wood. distinct black tea on the nose and palate. taste and texture. bergamot, earl grey. really fun. i'm intrigued.

60% gamay, 40% malbec. Determined little wine with its tannins. Cedar and woodsmoke. Dense, but lively. A contradiction in my palate. Worth a re-taste. Nick notes a black tea taste but I feel more cedary old wood notes. Definately coming up as the bottle opens. We shall see.
Yes, strong black tea notes, even to me. Fermented tobacco note as it comes open. Continues to intrigue. Worth tasting.

McDuff has the descriptors nailed down. I'll only add that we tasted this aside Lafon's new Oregon Gamay (double the tariff), and all thought it was the better wine. This was very good.

Grapey and gulpable, but it’s also accented by fine tannins, chalky minerality, a spike of white pepper and very snappy texture. There’s a definite inky/graphite element on the nose as well, along with an enticing twist of blood orange. Very food friendly

I agree with McDuff and others. My bottle was lovely, dense, peppery and almost graphite-y without being at all heavy, and it opened up tremendously on day two. I would have liked a bit more character here, but it's a killer value nonetheless.

Pretty forgettable. Tannic, acidic, but mouthfeel was surprisingly ok.

strong, chewy, harsh, acidic; a hint of promise a bit more aging?

Black tea and spice, smoke, a touch bitter on the back end but in a very pretty way. Rather intense and worth thinking about.

It is a nice little wine. A little heavy on the acid but drinakable. I like the nose and it finishes well.

Very tasty. Medium grapeyness dominates; also get some minerality (McDuff is spot on)... and a sparkly battery-on-the-tongue sensation. Very likable.
