Amber color in the glass. Definitely past its prime, but still drinkable. If you had this blind, you might have gone towards an oxidative Rioja or Musar, but never a Chardonnay. No acid, no primary fruit. Luckily the alcohol isn't too high, so it's not hot or viscous to drink.

A whiff of unpleasantness quickly blew off leaving wonderful cashew nuts and similar aromas. Great richness on the palate and nice finish. In great condition, but starting to decline.

Medium gold. Expressive nose of nutmeg, toast, oak, vanilla with a clear tertiary, every so slightly oxidative touch. Unctuous on the palate, creamy, still decent freshness. This is past prime but one can still see the quality of this Chard.

Deep honey gold. Rich honeyed peaches, hazelnuts, and only a very faint hint of fine oak. Delicate fragrance, not at all heavy, and a complete absence of any oxidative characters. Plump aged fruits, sweet peaches and pears, a lovely gentle touch of honeycomb. Mineral spice and extremely well integrated oak. Drinking beautifully, lovely balance, fruit-driven and long, the finish resonates, lovely acidity. Superb.

A reasonably reluctant nose comparatively after a '97 Leeuwin. Was still drinking well with good integrated oak and fruit. However, would drink up in the next 12 months.

From magnum. A bit over the hill but still lots of nice components.

Sensational, it has the colour of a 18 year old wine but the quality of a grand cru , drink now but no great hurry

I marvel at these whites, this is still great 18 years old, such longevity for Aussie Chardonnay is astounding, but this is very French .

Buttery taste, relative high acidity. A bit of vanilla as bouquet. Still has legs to go!

Geoff Lindsay's 50th: Settled and mature but full of class. Wonderful use of spicy oak. Won't get much better.
