Rich golden color. Very slight petrol nose with a bit of apricot. Dry on the palate with lively acidity and low residual sugar. Nice fruit complexity and quite enjoyable. I opened another a few months ago which was flawed or over the hill? This one is mucho better. Sadly my last bottle.

Discovered four bottles in the back of my cellar. Beautiful golden color, faint carmelized grapefruit on the nose. Wonderful stone fruit. One hell of a viscous, dry riesling. Subtle citrus, tropical fruit on the palate. An hour in--improving with beautiful acid, mineral backbone supporting subtle tropical flavors. Perfect with chicken sage sausage with corn and mint salad.

ABV 13.3: dark golden color; sweet yellow peach, apricot, pear but good acidity, and tastes dry; good mineral, a bit of petrol, good length.still opening over the afternoon; why don't i drink more of these??

Huge nose of apricot and some secondary notes. The body is rich and ripe but perfectly poised. The palate is rich with yellow stone fruit and veined with minerality. Absolutely lovely.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of petrol, acacia and apricot. Flavors of tangerine, lemon and apricot. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term.

This has it all - a spectrum of fresh pear and citrus fruit flavours, a vivid rocky minerality, Gruner-like green herbal accents and developing creaminess, all conveyed with a sense of seamlessness, power and superb balance. Fantastic wine.

Beautiful and clean lemon oil and white flower aromas laced over salty wet rocks. Impeccably balanced with lifting acidity that provides nice cut to the concentrated and intense citrus and stone fruit flavors on the palate with a slightly creamy texture. Long finish that shows beautiful minerality. Should keep for quite some time.

Gorgeous nose of white flowers, hint of honey and petrol; palate is waves of elegant, rich stone fruits, just a touch of honeyed density, then a slight bitter peach pit component, finishing with mineral and quince. Acidity is there, but softened, this is a beautifully complex wine at its peak. The funny thing is that on release, this was hard edged, showing very little fruit, all mineral and steel, now transformed. Goes to show: buy the producer and have fait.

Tasting Group Dinner w/ Alan Rath - Pinot (Craftsman, Minneapolis): Tinge of green. Tangy, ripe, and full-bodied, showing complex green banana and papaya flavors along with light chili spice. A very unusual flavor combination. Rich; dry on the finish with a creamy mouthfeel. Steadily improved in the glass. Delicious.

Fantastic vintage of this wine. Ripe but balanced, with an amazingly complex nose and finish. Unctuous, but given lift by vibrant acidity. White peach, a hint of caramel, river rocks. Dry, but comes across as having some sweetness due to the depth of fruit. I believe this was 13.5% abv. I'm not sure how this will age, but it's drinking so well now I don't see much reason to wait. Unfortunately, it paired very poorly with Thai food - both spicy and mild.

Austrian Riesling Tasting (Jeff Fisher's Apartment): Austrian Riesling Tasting at Fisher's house: Big, ripe nose just begining to show burnt sugar-like secondary aromas. A big wine with a fair amount of glycerin and alcohol. Has a lot of mouth-feel, but seems a bit monolithic to this taster.

2002 Rieslings (Austria/France/Germany) (Frankfurt, Germany): The nose is not very expressive (and that's an understatement). It's slightly better in the mouth but not much - almost impossible to assess for me since it basically tastes of nothing. Extremely acidic, even searing acidity on the finish that actually burns the tongue a bit. Either it's severely shut down right now, or it's a real disappointement. 4 tasters out of 6 ranked it last, but 2 tasters enjoyed it a lot and gave it first place in their rankings, which lead to quite a bit of disbelief and head-scratching.

From magnum. No formal notes, but this was an excellent example of a mature Austrian Riesling. Delicious wine!

Very nice if not as complex as one might hope. Excellent balance of acidity and (slight) sweetness.
