  • Classic bordeaux style from the heart of Chianti.

80% merlot with 10% each cab and sangiovese. Beautiful purple color, richness and depth. slighty spice and minimal jammy texture. Smooth, yet complex. A lovely production

  • Incredible wine. Initially decanted for 90 minutes, but not enough! After 3 hours is when the wine really started to sing and it kept improving. So much fruit and structure, this wine could easily improve for 5+ years, but enjoyable now with a long decant. I have 5 bottles left and am going to wait at least 2+ years until the next.

  • Dark. Fruit, balsamic notes, mediterranean herbs. Velvety tannins. Ripe with lasting adstringency. Perfect, sustainable marketing. No wheed and insect killers used says their brochure. Great mix of M, CS and Sangiovese which gives structure and power. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. No bitterness. Good wine which will please many people.

  • Bought a bottle at Bottega in Glendale, AZ. This is the 30th anniversary bottle! Dark burgundy. Minimal decant. Nose of Bing cherries, black olives, and warm herbs. Mouth is dark cherries, dusty chocolate powder, camphor, and the faintest hint of vanilla. Moderate, tongue-coating tannins. Early, but incredibly drinkable.

  • New SuperTuscans Zoom Tasting. Drank in Grassl 1855.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of milky chocolate toast oak coating dark red cherries, black cherries, blackcurrant, wood spices, pencil shavings. Developing.
On the palate, dry, soft high acidity, medium+ alcohol, rounded plush creamy high tannins, broad mouth-feel full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of juicy succulent blackberry, black cherries, pillowy Merlot fruit dominance onto the thick layer of milky chocolate toast oak. Long spicy finish.
Objectively very good quality. Ambitiously made, but oak needs a good few years to integrate. Not one to broach now for the oak faint of heart.
    80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Sangiovese.

  • 90min decanting time, and could have done with another hour. On the nose, ripe plum, heavy oak, and new car leather.

As this opened up, impressive notes of sour cherry, cigar box and leather. Incredibly smooth and easy drinking. Could have sipped this all night.

Med bodied, perfectly balanced tannins, and a pleasant lingering finish. Mouthwatering acidity.

    Winner.

  • Restaurant purchase. Coravin first two glasses. Bright ripe reds with acidity. Much better with the fat of butter or steak. Cork left in the bottle and brought home for further exploration.

Slow ox in the bottle for two days and pulled cork on third. Still not budging. The stuffing is in the bottle but this is a brute on the palate. I'll be reaching for Piconnero to hold me over. I'll buy a few bottles to hold deep in the cellar.

70% Merlot 25% Sangiovese & 5% Cab Franc. Almost taste like the reverse right now. 70% CF, 25% Sangio & 7% Merlot.

    92+ Hold
