  • Wonderful Zin! Amazingly deep dark color, nose of dark berries with hints of cedar. Lovely with red grave & spaghetti/meatballs. Topped off with Girl Scout cookies!! Whoa!!! Do it and
    Enjoy!!!

  • Drank with McAlisters and Connie Thanksgiving 2023. Decanted for 5+ hours and drank nicely a bit acidic at first softened over the course of the evening. Good fruit but needs several hours to be at its best

  • Delicious. Lots of pronounced well balanced fruit (peach, blueberry, and boysenberry to name a few) and spice (especially cinnamon and pepper) that drinks well. Great nose and long aftertaste. Popped and poured at an internal temperature of about 60 degrees into Riedel Zin glasses.

  • In the never ending saga of purging all '17s from Cali from my cellar, I decided to open my final bottle of this even though I just had one a couple of weeks ago.

This one better from the pnp, no jammy qualities, just really good zin fruit. This bottle just a deep clear ruby red when poured into the glass and shimmers much more than the previous bottle, as if shimmer counted for anything? It just looks beautiful and as a temptress would, defies you to partake. What? Carol? Where did YOUR glass go? We only have one more good pour each, left! Silky minerality and perfect zin acidity....I'm changing my score to 2 full points better than the last bottle. For me, this is in my perfect zin wheelhouse. Could certainly go some years more but I find when my zins get much older than 4-5 years they lose too much to warrant me saving them that long. Odd, because I love to age most other wines, but not these so much.

  • Of the ~50+ Zin I've tried this is just freaking awesome. Best zin of my life! Incredibly velvety, weighty mouthful with an insane fruit poise on the palate which is where the wine really shines (the nose is killer but the real fun is on the palate). The (red) fruit flavors are truly regal. 94-95+

  • Forgot I had a couple of these left in the cellar, craving a zin as the Eagles kickoff to probably find more ways lose yet another winnable game....if you can't watch a team play well and count on them to be dependable, at least I can find both those qualities in a Turley zin.

At the pnp, strong color in the glass and the fruit is big time zin-dense and jammy! Almost like a spicy zin cough syrup. Wow....don't remember any of my other '17 Turley zins being like this. 10-15 minutes in and this one already begins to drop back a bit to a better balanced fruit level/intensity. Loads of 5 spice and acidity throughout, plays out very well on the palate with a beautiful and long mouth watering finish. Goes on and on long after swallowing.

One hour in, a rather classic zin nose with a hint of camphor, too....the palate exhibits the expected amount of dark brambly zin fruit, no jammy-ness whatsoever. The great spice continues from the middle through the end. Spice remains in the mouth for a full 30 seconds after you swallow.

2+ hours in and the wine deepens further, from a taste standpoint but a small amount of alc develops on the nose. Probably a by-product of the super hot '17 vintage. Will see how this plays out over the next hour or two....

Well, I'm looking out my window to see if pigs really do fly? The Eagles just destroyed Sister Mary's School for the Blind and Infirm (i.e., the Detroit Lions)......

3+ hours in and more of the same from this wine, just consistent goodness from the fruit, and still just the slightest whiff of alc on the nose. I've been thinking 93 all day long and I'm sticking with that. If the alc were not present at this stage, it would be a point better to me. Enjoy 'em if you have 'em, but this can easily go another 3+ to 5+ years given the acidity and fruit present.

  • I liked it--light for a zin, but not crazy about the price. I've had better for less.

  • An excellent, very aromatic Hayne. Probably around 3-5 years from peak enjoyment, but very nice now.

  • Cedar and spice on the nose. Notes of blackberry, chocolate, and licorice. Long finish. Decant for at least 30 min.

  • 15.5% abv. Dark ruby, expressive aromas. Ripe ruby, blood orange, black pepper, raspberry and a touch of cinnamon. Very deep and long, very poised. Very enjoyable now and will only improve over the next half decade +.

  • Ultra fine and silky, this one is highly refined and with a beautiful nose of perfume. I'd have liked a bit more "heft" / classic Zin jamminess, but that's just not what this particular wine is about, and that is fine. It's a very nice wine.

  • pandemic drinking - should have left this beauty to mature fully in the bottle. Still very good but young and I certainly missed out on it turning into another great example of Turley Zin turning into an exceptional wine.
