I agree with the previous few notes, this wine is in perfect shape at nearly 50 years old, and can possibly stand another decay, very well balanced, obviously mature, elegant and enjoyable. A great example of mature well done brunello

I saw some bottles available at a trusted dealer, read the reviews below first (of course), and then took the chance and bought 3 bottles. The first one turned out to be absolutely sublime, so I bought the remaining 3 bottles as well. Of course, there might well be bottle variation awaiting; no risk, no fun.

Fantastic!!!! Great acid for almost 50+ year old wine. Notes of dark cherry, raspberry, and tobacco. Layers, with a long finish. Amazing QPR, which blows away burgundy of similar quality.

A bricking orange-brown color, quite hazy overall and very pale on the edges. Followed for several hours, this definitely took at least an hour in the decanter to reach its pinnacle. On the nose loads of ripe dried cherry, dried plum, leather, old wood and some spice. A really savory, lively and expressive aromatically. On the palate surprisingly full bodied and powerful with plentiful tannins and high acidity. Full of thick, sweet red fruit, amazingly alive. Airy, well integrated and somewhat spicy, reminiscent of a good Armagnac. The 15 % ABV raises its head when the temp goes up, but when slightly chilled that disturbance goes away. Provenance is obviously key, but this one was not going to go away anytime soon. Too bad the 72 cl bottle was emptied so quickly.

Oh wow, this was really fantastic. Lots of tertiary characteristics, red berries, licorice, and just so good. Can't describe the bouquet and taste adequately, but I loved it. In my opinion better than the 1975 Barolo I had earlier this year, which was bought from the same place as this. Easily lasted the three hours we enjoyed this over dinner. Evolved nicely during the first 30 min in the decanter, after which it stayed the same until the last glass.

Peaked at 1-2 hours of decant time. Sweet bing cherry dominated. Drink remaining soon, but should be good for 5 more years.

Not dead, but nondescript, and not particularly refined either.
