2016 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir 4 Barrel

  • Beautiful! Nose of soil, crushed raspberries, minerals of gunpowder, tilled earth. Palate of lively berries of black berries, cranberries, blueberries with minerals and forest floor loamy mosses. The acid is high, but fruit balaced it out. Alcohol levels to high for me, but the supreme wine maker’s make it work. Great job Kosta Browne.

  • Having had a few KBs over the years this 4 Barrel came across as the best of the lot and worth the premium. The transparency of this is much more prominent in this wine than other KBs but without sacrificing any power and richness. Marked by really intriguing florals and vegetal scents (not what I usually expect in CA Pinot ) as well as some briney notrs, this still has a ton of bing cherry power to it. A definite notch better than other Pinots from this producer.
