PnP (no decanted needed). Pinot on steroids. Rich dark berries on the nose with a decent dose of integrated oak. Plush on the palate with a bare hint of acidity. Maybe it's there in terms of pH, but velvet-soft high intensity fruit overwhelms. Still, the flavors are pure and delicious. In good shape, should last at this stage for several years.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of berries, laquer and currants. Flavors of currants, berries and raspberries. Medium acidity, medium tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold.
Seemed a bit off from expected. Almost like a bit of volatile acidity or something along those lines. Therefore, no rating this time.

This was popular with the California Pinot lovers at the pre-Falltacular 2011 offline dinner. Showed very well. Still feel it is at peak and will look for the last bottle of two to open soon.

Enjoyed this wine with the JTT. The nose had deep and dark notes of black and blue fruit with savory tones of soy to add to the complexity and nuance of the wine. The palate was rich and layered. After being open for 2 hours it went from being tightly wound to luscious and expansive in the mouth with notes of kirsch and subtleties of minerality. What a wine!

Last bottle. Either this was slightly flawed, or is heading downhill. Not as good as the previous bottle was. Nevertheless, still a special wine with dark cherry fruit.

Decanted for 2 hours. This wine ROCKED again! Amazingly complex nose of ripe blackberry, black cherry and wild berry with hints of baking spice and savory soy notes. Full-bodied mouth of black cherries leading to a long plush finish. Enjoyed at Manresa.

Highly anticipated bottle shared with good friends. Big Candied KB that didn't necessarily disappoint. Just not what I want from a PN. Nonetheless, I can see why there's a lot of hype for this type of wine.

This was my surprise wine of the night. I wasn't really expecting this. The first thing that blew me away with this wine was the tremendously bright fruit. Such pure raspberry and strawberry fruit--lively. It just made my tongue dance inside my mouth. the tannins were firm, but who the hell cared when the fruit was in such attack mode. Are there any other domestic pinots like this? 95pts.

09 cayuse dinner quick notes - this was a bit of a show stopper. One becuase I've heard so much about and two becuase the fruit was INSANE!! Some much red and blue fruits, spices up the yin yang and a back drop of minerals. It was like the SC and RRV's I've had but on steriods and with so many secondary notes. I mean all of that in the best way. Great experience!

A huge improvement over the '03. This is a well made wine and a very good example of the big, hedonistic fruit forward style. The alcohol is kept in check as long as this is consumed at cellar temp. My biggest issue with KB wines is that the mid-palate and finish do not offer enough complexity as the huge fruit forward style creates a monolithic profile.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of currants, black cheries, black berries and a bit of perfume. Flavors of red currants, red licorice and rich red berries. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink over the medium term.
My guess was this is the 2004 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir 4 Barrel but that's not fair because I brought the bottle and knew it was in the lineup.

Opened and aired for about 1 hour prior to pouring. Dark brooding red in glass. Aromas of dark cherries and vanilla and a hint of candied maple and spice, which carry through to the palate with a very silky, full mouth feel. Round and supple in texture with a long finish.

Like Michael said, this wine ROCKED! A little tight at first but it came into its own after 1 1/2 hours in the decanter. Intoxicating nose of black cherries with black cherries and vanilla in the mouth. Nice long finish which lingered on the palate. Enjoyed at the Plumed Horse for Kelly's birthday.

Still a big wine and much the same as the bottle we had a few weeks ago. It was a warm, humid evening, so a little bath in ice water for a few minutes helped tame the beast!

One of the best pinots in memory. It's got everything, a great nose and tremendous mouthfeel. long finish and is so good it seems to be in it's prime. I was never a fan of the blending of four of KBs' best barrels of four SV wines but this wine proves me wrong. A big step up from the '03 four barrel wine. The blending of their best four barrels created a great wine with excellent complexity.

Opened and poured without aeration. Dark color and fruit and spice on the nose. Smooth and silky on the palate. Enjoy on the cool side before the alcohol shows its presence. More balanced and tame than the 2003 offering. Oh, nice with grilled rare ahi outside on a summer's eve.

Thick, dark brown sugar, slight eucalyptus charred ribeye beef fat, domino steine chocolate, some Taylor Pork Roll - chinese pork cahrsiu, -- I am not a KB fan these days, but after the syrup and sugar evaporated, this wine surprised me. I may yet sell off my KBs one of these days, but I will hold on to the 4-barrels that I have. This turned out to be a Kosta Browne that even I liked. It took a while for the fat of this wine to render off, but when it did, it showed very well indeed. 91-92 pts.

Most K/B pinots drink pretty fabulously in the 3-5 year range. This was still tight and I will most likely wait to open future bottles. Drinks beautifully with a ton of fruit to make you forget about the alcohal.

Big thanks to board member who was generous enough to sell me a couple. Took to House of Prime Rib in SF with my entire family. Popped and poured. The wine started to show really well after about 30 minutes in the glass. Lots of ripe delicious fruit. Definitely pinot but full bodied and able to handle some prime rib. On the nose, lots of dark cherries and brown sugar. On the palate, pure ripe fruit that masks the 15+% alcohol level. A great CA pinot. Ends with a very long finish that coats the tongue and resembled a eating a cherry pie with a yummy crust. Very nice!

Tasted at an offline so no formal notes. Opened and decanted about 1 hour, maybe 90 minutes before serving. Much better than the 2003 I had recently. I'm beginning to think this wine is better tasted in its' youth. Huge with gobs of fruit. Definitely new world but still quite pleasant to drink for what it is. Maybe somewhere in the 93 point range at the moment?
