Opened with some nice citrus and acid, but seemed to fade a bit quickly. Some nougat and developed notes but seemed a bit muted.
Objectively not bad, but disappointing given the pedigree. If I was handed a glass and told "this is one of Australia’s top Chardonnays" I'd respond "really, this is the best they've got?"

A beautiful wine that prob has a few years left in the tank. Citrus notes, tropical and fruit w/ medium length turned into grapefruit pith, more tropical fruits, nougat and butterscotch notes and lots of length

at a 'last supper' before covid lockdown round 2. this was the opening wine alone with a 2015 Rockford Riesling before a themed brace of old matching vintages of Rockford Basket Press shiraz versus Cabernet. The Mount Mary Chardonnay is always a pleasure to drink, personally i think its underrated in their portfolio and against its industry peers. Here at 15 year of age it was drinking superbly. With a gentle honeyed pineapple secondary character edging through the balanced tannin and acidity, it provided a lush rich long mouthfeel with superb sweetness. nothing oxidative, nothing drying. just a lovely drink and superb with opening dishes of Scallops and Prawns. well worth seeking out

A big Chardonnay that’s ripe for the picking. More Mersault than Chablis, this beauty is chock full of white peach and nectarine, honeysuckle a touch of flintiness and an aniseed note. Perhaps some barrel-derived tannin too, but subtle. Citrus tones from early tastings of this vintage have mostly receded with some grapefruit pith persisting. Bold and round on the palate but enough acidity to keep everything in check. I like it. Drink now, but it’s not about to fall off a cliff.

My last bottle unfortunately and it was in great nick. Has filled out a little but still has delicate mineral and background citrus notes but complemented more profoundly by grilled nuts, toasty oak, a little honey and ripe stone fruits. A more rounded textural mouthfeel has come with age, showing nice length and acidity.

SLDS March 2016: Blind. Peach, lanolin, some vanilla oak, lemon and some spicy earthy notes. The palate impresses with its texture and balance. Very good acidity. Stood up well next to a blind 05 Leflaive Pucelles and that reflects well on this wine.

A little faded at first, but with time, chalk, mineral, white licorice powder, lime... Really lovely and at peak. Weighty but with a nice texture and power. Yum.

Grapefruit, honey and peach on the nose. Follows through on the palate. Slight lanolin/wool notes, integrated oak. Essentially an elegant wine, and one that needs to be drunk now.

Runny Returns.....the Great Australian Wine Dinner. (Chez Patrick Restaurant, 2/F, Garden East, 222 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong): Light green-gold colour remniscent of a NZ Sauvignon Blanc...... looks very young and as if fermented in stainless steel (which it isn't). Nose of nice high-toned piano notes.....white Chinese pears and other citric white fruits. Palate was initially disappointingly monotone, disjointed and somewhat flat compared to the 2004 Leeuwen Art Series Chardonnay drank alongside it and seemed to be in a sulky place......then it just blossomed with extended time in the glass and rising temperature to reveal a gorgeous linear citric purity and some distinctive minerality. Very surprisingly young.....like a 2007 Chassagne-Montrachet. I'm so pleased that I reserved judgement until the last vestiges of the glass.

Tasted at Yarra Valley Icons dinner 18 March 2012. Felt the oak treatment was excessive and the wine lacked elegance and balance. A more indulgent style of chardonnay, not up to my expectations.

Diam. A wonderfully inviting and floral nose of grapefruit, nectarine, meringue and honeysuckle. There is great focus and length to the palate, which is lean, stony and elegant, while retaining very good concentration and intensity. There is more acidity here than the 2004, but it is refreshing and well integrated. I like this a lot – it’s definitely in its drinking window, but should hold steady for at least another 3-4 years.

Mount Mary Cabernet vs Penfolds 707: Pears, grapefruit, passionfruit, florals and minerally slate on the wonderfully pure nose. The palate is structured, balanced and elegant - it is already lovely to drink, but this is going to be sensational with time. Drink now if you like them young, but otherwise check back in 5+ years.

Very pale. White blossom, Chablis-like. Intense and zesty, crisp honeysuckle, citrus, pure, little noticeable oak, good length.

Way to young. This year seems to have higher acid. Hold onto for another 3 years and try again
