  • My first time trying this wine. The clue is in the name Syberia that Hoddles Creek have made a cooler climate style here than their estate and 1er labels.
I worried that the fruit might be austere and tart, lacking ripeness, but the lemon citrus is ripe and there's some peach as well that emerges with a bit of time.
The big difference for me is that the fruit is less prominent, the wine is more defined by its secondary characters. There's slightly peppery baking spice, lovely sweet vanilla and a bit of earthy warmth from the oak.

Really good drinking and still looking very fresh at almost 9 years.

  • Just opened my last bottle. Mixed emotions as it’s both very good and has a few years left .lingers in the mouth for what seems like ages .Actually is ages

  • Delicious Chardonnay, has an elegant opulence to it that shows depth and complexity in quite a pristine medium weight package. Stone fruits, almond meal, slatey minerality and a hint of citrus and matchstick. The oak is so well done here this as well. Just full of flavour and interest without anything flabby or overdone.
