Dense, deep purple color. Rich, spicy aromas of fig, black currants, and plums. Earthy, jammy plums on the palate, a hint of black pepper. Well balanced, tightly structured. Long finish, with a slow fade to a soft Merlot note. (Drinking better than our first bottle of this vintage, consumed in 2018.)

Lovely merlot dominant blend from Washington State. Nose of plums, blackberries, chocolate and mint. Mouth filling fruit with well integrated, smooth tannins. Paired well with the red sauce based pasta dishes my wife and I enjoyed during our visit to Nunzio in Hilton Head.

Not a fan on the first day with harshish acids and tannins. 2nd day is better, but seems fleshy (like fruit dominant). I'm not sure what to recommend, but maybe another year in the bottle would be beneficial. However I'm not sure that this will be up to my DeLille standards.

Still quite lively with early pepper and tannin all mellowing with an hour decant, behaving impeccably over the next two hour dinner. Paired beautifully with a BBQ takeout assortment.

Day 1: 1 hour decant, still too young for my taste but showing well. Nose of cherry, plum, spice, cedar & vanilla. Similar palate with very smooth tannins and good acidity. Day 2: similar notes to day 1 with maybe the oak is coming across a bit more prominent. Certainly has the energy to keep going for a few more years, but showing well. Day 3-4: fruit has mellowed out and the oak and spice are more prominent but this is still delicious. I think DeLille cellars D2 is good QPR for a wine that will certainly age well.

Aging nicely. Didn't take formal notes but this wine has improved slightly (in my opinion) from my last note in 2/2018 - "Dark red color. Coca, red currants and bright cherry with floral undertones. On palate, red fruit dominant (cherry, red currants,) with slight medicinal edge - medium acidity, medium body and medium+ finish"
Didn't notice any medical notes this time and finish was longer than previous note suggested. Very bright red fruit as another taster noted. 91-92 range. Would buy again.

Wow, this was firing. Medium purple color. Lovely fruit on the nose (tart cranberry sauce meet suave black cherries), along with smoke, menthol, coffee and dark chocolate. So fresh on the palate, this wine is built on solid tannic ground but the acidity is really vibrant. Black currant, plum skins, the fruit is laced with complex roasted coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla but also black tea, soy and a pleasant earthiness. I get some graphite and mineral tones on the finish as well. Balanced so well, this has a decade of lovely evolution ahead of it at least. Great value here, too. 58% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in oak.

This Washington red is a Bordeaux blend of Merlot, (58%) Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (1%) with some of the fruit sourced from Red Mountain. The wine is darkest garnet in the glass with a ruby halo. It shares a redolent nose and palate of raspberry, black cherry, blackberry, toasty oak, mocha, mint and more pronounced cedar. While medium-bodied, the wine's finish is lengthy. The D2 is described as the winery's entry-level red. For my money, however, it's actually better than the 2014 vintage of Delille's pricier, but still outstanding Chaleur 2014 Bordeaux blend. The Red Mountain AVA, by the way, produces truly distinct reds which are described as "more structured" or "more tannic" than reds from other Washington AVAs. Whenever I hear that "there is no such thing as Terroir in the United States," I disabuse the naysayer of that notion by pouring him/her 2 or 3 Red Mountain wines. Addendum, I tasted the 2014 with the 2013 and the 2014 is a significantly better wine.

Had at steak house, @ 70.00 off wine list a great bargain. PnP. At this stage I think this would benefit from a good decant. Still, a pretty delicious wine. Blueberry, plum and a ton of spices, smooth tannins that are still a little overpowering at this point. But the steak tamed them and by the end of the meal (about 2 1/2 hours) they had begun to settle some. The finish was medium long showing some chocolate, tobacco spice and a little leather. Elegant.

Although the nose is a lot of barrel spice ahead of the fruit, the palate has plenty of nice silky smooth Merlot and some Cabernet with the barrel notes; not really getting the petit Verdot, but this is a great wine if you can get it at a good price. Got it to go at a wine bar for $32; I think they meant to write $52 on the chalkboard. Whoops!
We had this with grilled Ribeye Steaks on 8/15/17. It had a deep, rich, elegant bouquet of plum, blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, mocha, cocoa and baking spice aromas. Very rich aromas on the nose after opening, which made me look forward to drinking the wine. Very smooth mouthfeel that coates the tongue and mouth easily. Some nice acidity from dark cherry flavors at the front of the mouth on initial attack. You don’t always get acidity with a Washington blend these days. Then some very clean dark red and purple fruit. Tannins very well integrated. Long finish, with oak and cedar only showing up on the finish; along with some clean flint, with maybe just a hint of dark cocoa and earthiness. Elegant, well balanced, tasty. Can drink this all day long.

Respectable Bordeaux blend, somewhat rich, plush on the plate, good deep soft red and black fruits, not much minerality or complexity, but altogether good, like a classy Merlot in a way.

Bright acidity, creamy tannnins, dark layers of cherry and loganberry. Long dark finish
Continues a run of appealing D2's; will be enjoyable relatively early

Friends and I tasted this at the 11/5/16 fall release party. It had a rich, elegant bouquet of plum, cocoa, mocha and baking spice aromas. The palate was tight, tannic and bound up with flavors that followed the nose. 89+
