  • hit of vanillan cherry, grippy tannin that slips through and sucks your cheeks in. Mushrooms, good wine, sweeter fruit than the rest and massive grippy tannin

  • Six Nations 2016: Ants, ash, earth, raspberry. Good texture with the oak well integrated, I wonder if the fruit falls away a little bit too early though? Not sure if I got the right read on this given it wasn't an ideal tasting scenario but it all felt a little out of whack. Would very much like to try again.

  • Deep ruby. A vexing wine. Lovely, perfumed intensity on the nose, vanilla, strawberry essence, blackcurrant. On the palate is where this wine confounds. Having read Gary Walsh's review, it is impossible not to see his issue with the acid. Certainly high acid but it is a fine call whether it is disjointed and detracts from the wine or if it works. I am oscillating between the two. Time will tell. High alcohol, long length, pepper (or is that the acid?), high tannins which are thick and furry. Not giving up on this wine yet and don't regret having a few more to try with time.
