I had higher hopes for this wine as I’ve enjoyed other vintages many times in the past (from 05-‘16). This was a maraschino cherry bomb with drying tannins. Nothing more. Followed it for 2 hours post the pop n pour and the tannins became more dry but neither the body nor palate evolved appreciably.

PnP snd enjoyed over 2 hours. Started out intensely fruity but mellowed and got more interesting. Had a cherry tootsie roll pop essence—in a good way. Kind of lighthearted and enjoyable. Drink now, I’d think.

A great bottle, especially at this price point. Opened and let air for 90 minutes without decanting. Stuck close to cellar temp based on a reviewer’s recommendation. Bracing and slightly austere at first, with the tannins lingering and leaving an interesting lively sensation. Dark cherry with subtle secondary flavors.
This really took off paired with Bolognese, calming the tannins and bringing out a depth of flavors added to the cherry—notably licorice.
Day 2 the fruit was still present and enjoyable, but the structure had dissipated, making the wine slightly less interesting.

Deep color, no fading. The nose is very expressive; showing aromas of dark berries, roses, toasted oak, underbrush, spices and a hint of minerals. This is almost full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and real class. The long finish features well integrated tannins and just enough acidity. A modern approach that really works!

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #041: Barbaresco (By MW): Beautiful and expressive bouquet with autumn forest, plums, earth, roses and vanilla. Same on the palate, dark berries, chocolate, beautifully round tannin with still some bite. Elegant and delicious wine.

Missing an edge of freshness, this follows the 2014 Basarin, showing more of a darker fruit character throughout. Loam, cocoa powder, kind of a savory black licorice meets jerky thing. On second taste, this shows a small hole in the middle, the finish struggles to get to medium. I'd be inclined to drink this in the early - mid-term, and again, serving temperature should be close to cellar temp. This should appeal to many. recommended
Tasted at the winery. Blackfruit, floral and a chocolate, smoky earthiness on the nose. Medium to full bodied and with a similar flavor profile to the 2013, but much more structured and without the depth of fruit through the middle. All blackfruit at this stage through the middle, but slightly less bright and note quite as deep as the 2013. The 2013 has a lot better balance and integration at this stage. This wine should continue to develop and should start to open up in the next few years.

(Brief notes from "Sortimentsprovning at Barsac Wine Bar, Gothenburg with Prästgårdens Vinhandel, Portofolio Wines, Wine Waves, Armano's Wine, Fine Wines Sweden and I Vino dello Stivale")
Tasted next to the 2012 Barbaresco normale. Pretty much the same impression on this one. Modern styled. Elevated aromatics. Heavy oak and almost raisin-y fruit. Austere and harsh. Needs lots of time.

Coravin pour. Somewhat simple but quite enjoyable. Sweet cherry with good structured balance of tannin and acidity.

Good, but not weel integrated tannins, a bit dusty, but along with the food OK. Still a good wine, especially good price/quality!

Big lush cherry fruit on the mid palate. Lush on the mid palate and then super firm on the back of the palate.
