Solid wine. In the two years since the last bottle, the basic cherry and plum profile are still there. However the rough edges are completely gone and some earthiness, leather and spice are there now. This is a wine that matches well with food. Although this wine won’t wow you, there are no obvious faults here and a great value at less than 20.00

Ripe and fleshy, with good acidity to keep it fresh. Some interesting and pleasing flavors. An modern, easy drinker with Italian flair. Nothing to get too excited about, but a good quaff at a reasonable price.

Black cherry aroma. Smooth yet balanced and food friendly with black cherry predominating over fig and leather notes and focused by medium acidity. Medium finish with faint tannins. Easy to drink.

I'm going to give this 90. Unusual wine, and the jury was out until the bottle had been open a while. Will get another few to evaluate and will aerate or decant next time. Mineral, herb (mint), low tannin, enjoyable.

Corvina, Rondinella, and two others, partial appismento for 40 - 50 days. And then there is 20% Cabernet and Merlot added to the blend afterwards. A baby Amarone but a bt crunchy for me if you were going to call it that. Or you could say elegant I suppose. The three birds on the label represent the three hills and it means black wing. THe grape names are named after the birds who like to eat them. ANd different birds like different grapes.

Almost black in color, there is a good nose of plum moving to prune. Tannins are still a little rough around the edges and can use some time to integrate. Bright cherry fruit on first impression and possibly cranberry. Spices, cinnamon and dried plum on the finish which is moderate.

Leather, blueberries, strawberries, and nutmeg on the nose. Juicy, dark fruit and baking spice on the palate, with a perfect grip of tannin. This is a nice bottle of wine for the price point ($22).

Very dark rich crimson color, full bodied, medium plus acidity, touch of tar, dark red fruit, and sweet dried plums and dates, some floral notes (predominantly rose petal) persist on the nose.

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$30 (Bin 75): Garnet core with brighter crimson maroon rim; young, slight tar, bright juicy plum cherry and berry, slight vegetal; juicy palate, some dried fruit, simpler but decent depth, black pepper, cinnamon, richer but still some acid, a very round plushness to it; was torn between Teroldego and Corvina.

12 months French oak. 55/25/10/5/5 Corvina/Rondinella/Corvinone/Merlot/Cab. 50% of grapes dried 45-60 days. Up front medium plus nose shows bright raspberry, red plum, sweet spicy cherry. Palate is savory, nice fruit layers of black plum, blackberry, medium plus bright tannins, nice complexity for this price point. Fun, good wine.

Interesting blend of 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone, 5% Merlot, 5% Cab. 50% of the grapes are vinified at harvest and the rest undergo 30 to 60 days of appassimento before being vinified, in a combination of the Valpolicella and the Amarone processes. The wine is then aged for a year in used French tonneaux. The wine is quite youthful and a little tight, while the medium (+) acidity, alcohol and tannins provide quite a bit of structure. It will be interesting to see how this evolves with a couple more years in the bottle. At this stage, I prefer the 2010 Ripassa, and for the money I prefer the 2012 Valpolicella Superiore.

Deep purple color. Lovely nose of violets, roasted coffee and earth on top of sweet currant and plum fruit, some nutty elements as well. A bright sense of acid helps balance the rich fruit, blackberries, currants and plums. Notes of earth, grilled herbs, toasted oak and coffee. Structured but still fresh and quite approachable. 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone, 5% Merlot, 5% Cab.

Young but great potential. Tangy blackberry, sweet blueberry, with hints of raisin, sweet spices, mint leaf. Iodine. Bit of cocoa and summer sausage. Faint cinnamon. Strong grippy tannins and tart acidity.
Youthful but a great new blend from zenato. Open 2016 at earliest.

Nice finish, with plum, pepper and cranberry. Hits of truffle makes this a fine wine with a turkey dinner complimented with cranberries.
