This is a very beautiful wine—soft and elegant. Full bodied, well integrated tannins that are fine and soft. Red and black fruits but more of the tertiary aromas and flavors. The fruit is not as fresh as I recall from a few years ago. Very enjoyable. Served with roasted rack of lamb, carrots, and asparagus.

Not a great vintage for Napa but a good wine from a classic producer. Drank from a half bottle. This has slightly muted fruit notes but it is stills a very typical, classic Napa Cab. Definitely complex on the nose. Dark fruit notes, mainly blackberry, as well as hints of spice. It also has some subtle herbaceous notes that I think will grow as it ages. Overall, an interesting wine, I am holding one more and I’m interested to see how it ages.

Not a great vintage for Napa but a good wine from a classic producer. This wine has some age on it, especially given that half bottles age faster. This gives it slightly muted fruit notes but it is stills a very typical, classic Napa Cab. Definitely complex on the nose. Dark fruit notes, mainly blackberry, as well as hints of spice. It also has some subtle herbaceous notes that I think will grow as it ages. Overall, an interesting wine, I am holding one more and I’m interested to see how it ages.

At our nephew Eric's wedding from a 3L opened 6 hours early and then decanted. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, licorice, tobacco and a touch of dried thyme. The finish was moderate. A very good showing from the problematic 2011's.

Drinking great at this point. A little bland on pop n pour, but opens up nicely after an hour. Dark red fruit with subtle vanilla and a bit of toasty oak. Smooth mouthfeel with a moderate length finish and balanced acidity.

At Metro North restaurant in Princeton, been a while since I have had a Grgich wine. PnP, drank over an hour
Deep purple color. Nose of dark fruits, blackberry, green/bell pepper. Palate of blackberry, dark fruits, licorice, green/bell pepper (repeats), floral notes on the back palate. Opened over the time we drank it to show more depth.
Not bad, given the difficult vintage. Was good out of the bottle but wine is still very primary. No real secondary characteritics, which may show with some air time. This should drink at this level for 5 years or so, I don't think it will improve much with age. Enjoyable but nothing spectacular...

A excellent wine brought it to blob night at a local restaurant. Rich deep purple and red. Healthy legs. Nose was interesting blackberry hints of fig bell pepper and some spice. On the palate rounded out smooth supple tannins there but it was smooth. Really did not decant at all like other reviews maybe with some more time in the open it would be even better. But it was real good out of the bottle.

Tightly integrated notes of rich fruit, tobacco, and hints of bell pepper and licorice. Very bright, alluring nose. White pepper, vegetal, juicy on the palette. Some heat. Nice but unsurprising.

Dark cherry and cassis on the nose nice tannins on the finish. Great wine for a wet year and cellar value point < 200/btl Given only 350-400 cases made.

Not a big fan of this one. Not many layers, mostly tart and acidic with a huge alcohol finish. Not even extra air time helped it. Some berry flavor. An okay wine.

Considering the difficulty from all producers in 2011, the Grgich Cab is a good wine, a bit imbalanced with minimal fruit up front and none on the finish, big tannins that carry into the finish. May benefit from some time, was very closed on initial pour and improved with decanting.
Notes: The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), prune, stoniness and plum. It tastes like oak, stoniness, black currant (cassis) and sandalwood. The body is medium. The wine has fleshy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Luftet en time i karaffel.

Dark garnet colored, medium bodied, rather subdued closed and complex but tight dark berry fruits tones of sweet caramel, black tea and cedar with with hints of floral on a moderate tannin finish. Needs to time to settle and to open and reveal its native character.

Tasted blind vs 2009 Heitz Martha's Vineyard. Beautiful floral bouquet. Deep, persistent bouquet and on the palate. Tasted well for days after opening.

Beautiful cab. Tasted as a glass purchase at Zelo in Minneapolis. Elegant, Bordeaux like. Fruit, bouquet all worked together. Will look for a bottle or two, especially after reading tasting notes here.

Medium to full body. Dark cherry and soft oak influence. Well balanced acidity. Dry gripping finish. Needs a few years of bottle time to develop more character.

Medium-full bodied visually and in the mouth. Aromas of cedar, graphite, and supporting bright red fruit. On the palate this is high toned with medium acidity and respectable tannic grip that's noticeable on its own but blends in when enjoyed with food. This is a serious wine that reward thoughtful pairing with hearty red meat dishes. Sample for review.

Aromas of sweet black cherries and raspberries, also very floral, with notes of sweet caramel, cedar and mushroom. The palate shows fleshy texture, fine but structured tannins and a good amount of tanginess from the acid. The berry fruit is pulpy and fleshy, backed up by a delicious blend of mushroom, cedar, root beer, menthol, loam. Complex, surely this will evolve for quite a while, but I’m surprised by how well it’s drinking right away. Loving these lingering non-fruit flavors.
