Out of magnum, ruby color in the bowl though much lighter on the edge. Drinking very nicely out of magnum and was a perfect pairing with Cioppino. Raspberries, cherries, and licorice in the nose with notes of herbalness and minerals. Black cherries, blackberries and raspberries in the flavor. Would never of guessed 16.5% alcohol, the wine was well balanced and medium bodied with a very smooth medium to long finish.

First bottle for NYE. Very light color, pretty and translucent. Nose of boozy raspberry and light smoke. Flavored of blackberry and plum. Sweet and easy drinking despite high alcohol.

Now THIS is a Zinfandel that I really like. Bursting with red raspberry fruit, plus anise on the nose, it has none of the pruney heaviness I worry about each time I open a bottle. The alcohol just leaves a warm glow on the finish without being overpowering. Long, fruity finish, and, thankfully, medium bodied.

A most atypical Jackass. Light in color and surprisingly light on the palate, notwithstanding its 16%+ abv (not intrusive with a little air). It delivers a characteristic concentrated red fruit blast to show its heritage. There is no syrup or sugar to this wine, which drank very nicely with grilled beef. Lingering aftertaste. Two left, which I'll let age for a year or two. Looking forward to the '12!

Decanted for +-45 minutes. A bit heavy with flat fruit. Easy to drink; I'm just didn't roll my socks at all. I recommend not drinking it until at least mid-2015.

The most exotic Zin I buy ... this one from a cool vintage is unusually light in color, although high in alcohol (16.5%).
Very deep, very focused, very long ... very Jackass!

A surprisingly light, red fruit component to this wine. Should continue to improve.

Lovely, luscious wine, but no match for the Jackass Hill.
