No excitement here. Toasted notes, some fruit, lacking character and too much volatile alcohol for my liking. A mouthful of fruit, but lacking definition. The soft tannins are not holding much, the acid balance is ok. Length is barely average. Similar to a bottle we had 18 months ago. Not worth the price. Still have 3 bottles of this vintage, so I’m hoping for a magical rebirth.
Zeer donkerrood, bijna zwart van kleur, gesloten spiegel. In de geur licht notig en aards. In de mond koffie, cacao, zwarte kers en bospaddenstoelen. Krachtige tannines, milder zuren. Stevig mondgevoel, bite, beetje boers. Echet eetwijn.

Drank alongside a Waters Syrah (Old Stones). The Psi had a bit more acidity and earth. Split decision among our dinner guests. I liked the spice and balance of the Psi. Probably could use a bit more time, but I think it is in a good drinking zone now...

App: dark ruby red Aroma: dark fruit (esp. blueberries), chocolate, spice and hint of minerals and oak. Full-bodied- with decent acidity and firm, but available tannins. Good structure, excellent concentration, but still a rather elegant style. Dark fruit (esp. blueberries), dark and bitter chocolate, and spice on the palate. Very good length. (91)

Improving. Upon popping the cork, the wine was austere if not somewhat subdued. After an hour, the austerity had subsided and the fruit was becoming more pronounced. The next day, the wine had substantially improved. It seemed that the wine tasted like it had a velvety structure to it. It also had sort of a menthol taste on the finish.

This wine continues to improve. Double decanted about 2 hours before serving and served with grilled venison backstrap which was perfectly cooked. While the nose is still somewhat closed in, there are plums and blackberries on the nose and initial flavors and the tannins are beginning to mellow and are much less noticeable. Good length. I think this wine is approaching its drinking window and should be good for at least another 5 years or so.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of pepper, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of black berries, black raspberries and black cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.
Served this bottle along with a bottle of Emilio Moro 2011 Malleous at a neighbor's house for dinner. Double decanted both wines about 2-1/2 hours before serving. As with previous bottles of the Psi, it was still a bit closed in with considerable underlying fruit of plums, blackberries, touch of wood, and moderate, round tannins. Still a very good wine, but I don't know when it is going to fully open up. The wine advocate (Gutierrez) recommends drinking by 2020, but we will see.

Rubinröd, medium body, härligt bärig doft. Intensiva smaker, Hallon, körsbär, blåbär, lakrits, läder. Balanserad fat karaktär, medium tanniner. Kryddig och het, lite för hög alkohol känsla slår igenom, kanske lite beskt slut.

Dark red. Dark fruit, cherries and smoke ( or are we sitting too close to the wood grill at Nash!?). Sweet and full dark fruit flavours, perfumed, without heaviness. Med length finish. Too bad we didn't decant. Quite lovely, especially for the price.

Very jammy and sweet nose. Dark berries with red liquorice. Thankfullly on the palate it is a little more serious. Nice structure and tannins that are slightly round, dark chocolat. 88 for the overall balance but too 'sexy' for me.

Double decanted this wine about an hour before serving. Nose was closed in but initial flavors of intense fruit (plums, blackberries, hint of spice), some complexity in the mid-range, but relatively short finish. This wine needs several hours of breathing to serve at its best and is still developing. Should be more interesting in a year or two, but uncertain about the longevity of this wine. Gutierrez from the Wine Advocate suggest drinking by 2017, but based on this bottle, I would think longer.
Much better the second day. The nose had opened up, followed by intense fruit, and tannins were almost completely dissipated. Good acid balance in the mid-range and finish. Altogether a much nicer wine. This suggests the need for several hours of breathing before serving.

Gave this around an hour of air. Opaque core with a violet rim. 100% Tempranillo. Nose and palate are concentrated, massive dark fruit. Pure, but extremely rich. With some air, acidity emerges & some brightness & red fruit come to the front. Tannic & young.

Well constructed! Still tannic, fruit was a little subdued but not much and seemed to improve with air. Perhaps decanting would help. It was polished nevertheless. Great potential.

Color rojo cereza, ribete violáceo bien vivo, capa algo alta y fina lágrima lenta, uniforme y suavemente tintada.

No formal notes taken. At a restaurant, p&p. Dense and big nose, with sweet & dark dense fruit, oak and vanilla, earth and touch of fine herbs. Some licorice and smoke came along with more air. On the palate this is rather sweet, big, round and full, fruit forward and accessible. Nothing to call home about, or go hunting for, but went fine with some good tapas tonight.

Double decanted about 3 hours before serving. This bottle is more closed in than before. Plums and earthiness in the initial nose and flavors, full mouth feel, full but soft round tannins in the mid-range and finish. Look forward to trying it again after it has been opened over night. Double decanted about 4 hours before serving with grilled, aged ribeye steak. Nose was more open than previous bottle with plums, black cherries, leather and oak; moderate tannins in the mid-range and a very good finish. A bit of a more modern, fruit forward style, but very good wine. Purchased a case for drinking over the next 3-6 years. However, it does need extended breathing. Even better the second day.

Served with grilled lamb chops. Double decanted about an hour before serving. Wine was completely closed in with suggestive nose, good mouth feel, but little in the way of consistent flavors. Will try again on second day. I think this wine needs at least a couple of years to begin emerging. NR
Much better the second day. Nose opened up to reveal dark cherry, spice, and leather, full mouth feel, soft tannins in the finish. The slight bitterness in the finish from day one had disappeared. Good length. This is going to be a very good Ribera del Duero, but does need some time. I will try again in 2-3 years. Served with grilled steak Florentine.
