Volatility on the nose and the sharp bite on the finish confirms it. Very ripe fruits with a hint of raisin. There is a touch of that strong garrigue note you want from a Gigondas but it's mostly overwhelmed in service of ripe fruit delivery. Lacks acidity so it sort of wallows on the palate, feeling fat and heavy. Skip.

This is ready right now. Starts a bit muted, so let it sit in the glass for 20 minutes (use venturi) and watch it evolve throughout the evening. Light/elegant on the palate, but very round as you swish it. Very well made. Starts with notes of cedar, garrigue, and plum. Then came the currants. Then came the anise. Some mild minerality. Finished with mature fruits. Again so smooth, balanced, and a pleasure to see it evolve throughout the evening. Loved it.

either i need to drink more gigondas, or this producer and/or vintage are superb.
gravel, blood, cherries, leather on the nose and on the palate. this was complex and mouthcoating. decadent but thoughtful at the same time. i adored this wine.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis) and blackberry. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and black pepper. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

My wife and I loved this wine. Popped and poured, drinkable also on second night. Dark berry nose and on palate with leather and cloves as others have noted. Good structure. Surprisingly long finish. Straight forward and enjoyable; not super complex. At $25 this wine is tremendously good value for regular drinking.

Lots of leather and game, with a tightness on the palate. Will it ever open up? Or flesh out? I kinda like it but I would guess lovers of Gigondas would not.

Nice, easy daily drinker. The wine isn't overly complex, but it has a good set of earthy fruits, some black cherry, some leather. Wine really peaked for me the night I ended up letting it sit for 45 minutes before I was able to get to it, but haven't managed to wait that long to drink it since!

Southern Rhone Wine Dinner w/Pierre Henri Morel (Back Forty West): Really liked this wine (esp for the price). It's a mix of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mouvedre. Has that lovely candied cherries taste that I always get in a Grenache but is well balanced with white pepper. Had an unintended break of about 30 minutes after the first sip to when I tried again and the wine had really blossomed in that time - got much spicier with a very pleasant hint of cinnamon.

Inky and big alcohol on the nose. Very tight. On the palate, dark plum, currant and blackberry with bay leaf and alder notes. Finishes with some black tea. Very dry, big and tight. Expect it to really be good in 1-2 years more.

A friend brought this to my Cassoulet dinner on 2/19/12. It had a tight, lean bouquet of cherry, green herb and spice aromas. The palate was lean and thin with flavors that followed the nose.

Great pairing with standing rib roast Christmas dinner, PNP, took about 20 minutes to really open up so consider decanting.

French wines tasting at local retailer: Much darker than the 2012 CDR, dark fruit, earth, fine tannins, short to medium finish.

Was a very nice wine that went well with Thanksgiving turkey dinner. The red fruit and spice was very complementary with the turkey.
