Too tight on opening, after airing out for two hours still too tight. Left it for the next night Was singing fine on night two, terrific fruit, Zin flavor, delicious juice Don't think the timeline is correct but you can feel good drinking now or holding However air for a long time or decant

It as been a while since I have had a Carlisle, or a zin for that matter. It was a reminder that Carlisle makes top notch zin. This was pretty complex but what struck me was the nice acidity that balances the wine.

Dark ruby hue. Red/blackberry nose. Slight eucalyptus/menthol, slight orange black earl tea, long finish. Tons of dark fruit, rich, smooth, velvety. Drink with or without food. Terrific bottle drinking great.

A nice wine but the 16% alcohol dominated - just too much alcohol heat. Struggled to find the fruit. Hope this is just in a awkward phase but think that the alcohol will be too evident.

Wow. Deep bramble and bright, berry-oriented, serious, red/blue/black and purple fruits glorify the nose and palate of this. Candied, but in a yummy way. Long finish, great vineyard. There's a varnishy quality to this that is captivating. All about the mid-palate here. Huge, great, long, delicious, drinking on point. Wow.

We had this with smoked beef short ribs on 5/23/17. It had a powerful, dense and rich bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, black cherry, smoke, pepper, licorice, sage and spice aromas. The palate was rich, dense and layered with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, plum, black cherry, burnt toast, licorice, pepper, herb, spice and minerals.

Wow! This has it going on. Great nose - berries and bramble. All kinds of black and blue fruits on the palate, along with hints of sage and (more) bramble. Rich (but not heavy), not port-like or raisiny, and vibrant, with a very good finish. This is what Zin is supposed to be like. Holding up just fine.

Over-Under Spring 2016: Powerful, delicious, layered with flavors of strawberry-raspberry jam, dark red cherries, and plum, with accents of sage and pepper. Floral aromas. Maybe a tad one-dimensional (drank it with a well-aged, high-end Bordeaux that showed more evolution in glass but high-end Bordeaux will usually outshine most competition; it's kind of a uncomfortable truth).

Drinking well right now, although not as amazing as some of the other 2010 Zin's from Mike. Explosive nose, good structure with sour cherry, ripe Strawberry and cream, a bit high on the oak. I don't believe this will get any better, so I'd drink up.

Great zin typicity. Bramble and dark fruit nose. Immense concentrated red and black fruit plate. Plush mouthfeel. Lengthy finish with some mild heat. The fruit notes have a liquor character showing the hot vintage.

I usually thoroughly enjoy Carlisle wines and find them to have great balance for their size. This one felt a little over the top with the heat just a touch too prominent. Zin spice in abundance.

Dinner at Brett and Carol's: A big, rich wine with darker, blacker fruits compared to the V Sattui. Some licorice notes. Went well with grilled porterhouse steaks. While I don't drink much Zin anymore, this was fine tonight.

Bottle neck cracked when I was moving this around, so I ended up drinking it much sooner than I was planning to. Deep, rich blue fruits with some floral and mineral complexity, and some heat. Lots of structure, which smoothed out on the second night, along with the alcohol note. This is definitely the darker side of zinfandel. I'd give it a few more years.

Tasty Zinfandel with nice dark fruits, a bit of chocolate on the back of the mouth. There is definitely an alcohol note here, but it isn't objectionable.

Sit on this a few more years. We popped and poured and it was to hot, we moved to a decanter, but even with a good decant the alcohol was so hot! There are some good flavors - mineral earthy notes with some mixed berries, but just too hot for now.

Delicious, soft, forward, full-bodied, mixed berry fruit, very round, slightly jammy and sweet, floral, licorice, and earthy flavors, excellent structure, long finish, just a classic mouth-filling Zin!

Rich, jammy zin. Considering the 16% ABV I would say it carries it well. Enjoyable but it did take effort to drink, not from a heavy perception, but more the alcohol level.

Bramble and cherry on the nose, with pepper and raspberry, and some mocha at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with bramble and sour cherry, some chocolate and raspberry, and a nice pepper finish.

Decanted for a few hours. Still get a little heat from the alcohol but the red plum fruit is very apparent and more than makes up for heat.
