"This wine was remarkable. I aerated and decanted this wine and it came to life. Dark yellow colour as you would expect from a 21 year old quality Chardonnay. Deep honey nose. Lots of oak and honey on the palate. Almost a desert wine. "

NobleRottersSydney - Mount Mary (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13%} Lemon yellow colour. Looks aged, although not really twenty. Cheesy, sandalwood/oak nose, a little bit gluey. Certainly quite mature. Possibly should have decanted this. Medium weight palate triumphantly carried by the nicely etched acid; even presence along the tongue, yellowing fruit flavours are tending a bit generic rather than pointing to specific fruit, but it’s still very enjoyable. Medium length finish. Has the complexity to hold the attention but I think the end is in sight for this.

Purchased around 07...in my cellar since. Interested to see if a 20 year old Chardonnay from Oz would still have anything left. PnP, we drank over 90 minutes.
Brassy gold color. Nose showing baked apple, yeast/brioche, after sitting in the glass could get a bit of creme brulee. If smelling blind I might have guessed an aged white from the Rhone. Palate shows marinated orchard fruits, lemon curd, quince, yellow liqueur/blond Lillet(?), some battonage. Secondary notes hard to describe, something there. Finish was layered and lingered for a while.
Flavors and descriptors to be put in the context of the wine's age. Had a lot going on, interesting for fans of old and unique wines. Its in a tertiary phase at this point. Nice to see this bottle made it this far, prior bottle was flawed

Lemoncurd cheese cake, pineapple and some nuts in the nose. Medium bodied and well balanced palate. Rich and long finish. Drink now or within another 4 years.

NobleRottersSydney - Alliteration night (Alio's, Surry Hills): [cork, 13%] {Graeme} Still only pale-lemon in colour at twelve years old. A gorgeous nose, which seems to become younger and fresher as it sits, of figs and grilled nuts. The palate offers stonefruit and mineral flavours, stunningly medium-bodied, freshly acidic still and free of malolactic influences. It’s bone-dry, not at all oaky, rich but savoury, persistent in length and beautifully balanced along the tongue. Stunningly good, and seems like it could age another dozen years easily. Probably the best chardonnay I’ve ever tasted, and easily the best over a decade old. Just magnificent.

Very dissapointing. I have had this wine before and loved it. Seems to have a lot of variability bottle to bottle, Not corked but I think we just got a bad bottle.
Not in my notes - but when I have had this in the past it was wonderfully complex stuff

Brilliant stuff. Not anything at all like the other notes. Crisp, minerally and very intense. Crystalline structure and full of edges. Barest and delicious hint of butter popcorn at the very end. Balanced. Just wonderful.

Blind Chardonnay Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Oyster shells, minerals and smoke to begin with, but after a very short time it went all rubber and garlic dominant. Palate went the same way as well. Likely a faulty bottle.

White Burgundy followed by many others (Sydney, Australia): Though there was some disagreement, this was corked in my opinion.

Century Wine Club - Chardonnay Spectacular (Roberts Restaurant, Pokolbin): Stronger on the nose, almost like creamed corn. Offensive flavour at the end of the palette, perhaps needs some more time to integrate. Try again in another 2-3 perhaps, or maybe just a bad bottle
