Dark garnet with marionberry nose. Lightly tart red berries, raspberry, red currants and cranberry. Medium fruit and body but the acid lightens the fruit and give a lively, fresh squeezed quality. Drinking very well as a young fruit driven strawberry smoothie.

Medium to dark ruby with a tart berry nose. Medium dry with tart cherry fruit, nice round mouthfeel with smoothly integrated tannins, a bit of sweetness along with the acid for balance. Medium body and fruit with a softness that should appeal to a broad spectrum of palates. While my personal tastes go to a more austere wine with more earthy notes, this has a lot to offer those who like a more fruit forward style and I categorize this as a Syrah drinkers Pinot with acid rather than spice.

Medium garnet, smoky nose. Dry, tart berry with chewy tannins, medium fruit and body, ripe strawberries with some flinty mineral. Well balanced with prominent though restrained acid. Drinking well. A little more fruit than I like, but not jammy and somewhat restrained though far from austere. The fruit has settled down, showing cola and tobacco tonight, nicely balanced acid and light chewy tannins.

I really like the Cabot wines and this one is no exception. It is drinking well even without a decant and has a lot of flavor. Certainly an excellent QPR that appears to be in its prime with everything in balance. Not over the top but clearly californian. We really enjoy it and happy that we have another bottle in our cellar.

This is a very solid bottle of Anderson valley pinot at an attractive price. Medium acidity, a bit of a sour finish, medium mouthfeel, and very clearly AV. Definitely in the middle of the AFWE/oakfruitbomb spectrum.

Everything a good California Pinot should be: sweet red fruits, a fragrant nose of cherry and tea, a very small amount of earthiness but no Willamette dirt, and a fine acidity and good balance. If you graded pinots on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being a big, fruity, Parkerized gobstopper and 10 being a high acid, austere AFWE wine, this is about a 4.5. Would love a touch more tannin to balance and it verges on very ripe. A very enjoyable wine.

While aromatically this has lost a couple steps, the package remains incredibly Pinot satisfying. Big sweet and sour flavors of strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate and rhubarb bitter acid with no oak to speak of. I challenge you to find a Cali pinot with this much acid and this much fruit. It most definitely speaks of a place, and I for one would like to hear more from it.

PnP. Cloudy garnet in the glass with a nose of rhubarb. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and ripe with the same rhubarb, cherry, strawberry and faint hints of forest floor and Christmas Spices. It has a medium-length finish with tannins that are smoother than the finest silk. This is an easy-drinking wine that I would consume now rather than waiting a few years to improve. That having been said, I did note improvement after a 12hr. decant, so a few years in the cellar could not hurt.
Addendum, subsequent bottles from different retailers were more tannic and less fruity suggesting that the wine suffers from bottle variation and caused me to lower my score by a full 2 points. I note that other tasters have noted the same and absolutely significant bottle variation.

Totally different than my previous bottle last year. This was purchased in the OC. It was sweeter and more like a non descript chunky RRV pinot. I have a few more I got from John, so hopefully it will show that tart cranberry seamless PN I grew to love.
PnP. Smells like a garden, deliciously earthy, rooty, herbaceous and fresh, with a cutting horseradishlike spiciness. Surprisingly round and ripe on the palate, a medley of dark and red fruit with fresh herbs and some spiciness, a touch sweet. Decent acidity, although I can't help wishing for a bit more. Fairly long, earthy, rooty finish, with a touch of bitterness developing at the very end so that it ends up finishing completely dry. Tasty stuff, with good complexity and depth and some attractive unusualness.

This is the best young pinot I've had in a long time. Nose of freshly wet grass, but an exciting taste of cherries, rhubarb and under ripe strawberries. Really light tannins and acid, but all is balanced. This is the end result Cabot should try to achieve each vintage.

Man is this throwing some serious sediment, screen required! This has settled down a bit and the texture seems to be dying down as the tannins resolve. Loads of red cherries, macerated cherries, sour cherry, pomegranate, with an herbal rhubarb acidity and some spice thrown in.
Interesting, I see bottle variation with Cabot (pinot & syrah) and this bottle was no different. But the good news is every bottle is terrific. Decanted for 1 hour for air and to drop the tartaric crystals and some sediment. Different than the previous three bottles, flavor profile was dominated by a delicious bing cherry and less of the tart berry. Acid seems to be integrating and shows as more balanced. Yummy goodness.

Strawberry, Raspberry, Pomegranate, and maybe just a slight bit of funk on the nose. The palate is medium in weight, showing good red fruits consistent with the nose and strong acidity. I did feel some heat on the finish, which was very mellow, and medium in length. An impressive effort overall, and a nice value play - this is just a fun wine. Slow ox'd for about an hour, and drank over another hour or so. Served chilled, and noticed the fruit turn more to cherry as it warmed, but never got cola or overripe impressions.
Good fruit and well made, has mineral taste and faint leather note, which is nice. However, a little too sweet and lacking in tartness. It is a good wine when consumed alone, but I prefer much thinner and sour young AC Bourgogone for my dinner, unless I have red meat dishes.

Pnp - This juice is ridiculous. The nose is very reticent compared to previous bottles, which is disappointing but fortunately the palate is on point. I've figured out the secret to this wine... like nothing I've tasted it manages to compress and balance big sweet, sour, and bitter flavors, into a medium structured pinot with excellent typicity (nice funk and twang). First you get that sweet cherry and strawberry hard candy that is rapidly washed out by red apple and peel, cranberry, before it transitions to that bitter-sour herbal note that is so remniscent of rhubarb, with a nice lifted berry finish at the moment. Screw chambolle, I'm emailing Cabot.

Was anxious to try this and wasn't disappointed. Shared with friends over dinner. Gave it a couple hours in the decanter and this was lovely. Nose of cherry cola, maybe a little spice in there. This wine had wonderful fruit. It was good and juicy with lively acidity that kept you coming back to your glass for more. Certainly not burgundian but this was well done and very enjoyable. Everybody was impressed. When the wife is reminding me the next day about how much she liked "last nights" wine, that's a subtle hint to buy more.

PnP & consumed over 2.5 hrs. on 1st night. Svelte & silky w/fruit-forward approach intermingling w/a moderate mineral mid-palate. Notes of ripe red plum & berry fruit, rhubarb, baking spice & hint of cola. Fine tannins, medium acidity, medium-bodied, & nice moderately lasting finish. Came back to this for a glass on 2nd night & found it bit bolder w/more acidity. Quite a bit of sediment left toward end of bottle. Nicely made & well balanced.

Popped the cork and stuck my nose in the neck of the bottle: a tremendous blast of pure, concentrated rhubarb. Wow. A small sip while the rest goes in the decanter... nothing at all on the palate for two seconds, then a blooming burst of classic pinot cherries and minerals. After five hours in the decanter: delicious dark minerals and fruit on the nose. Well-made, great structure, gorgeous silky mouthfeel. Again the classic slightly bitter/mineral palate with cherries, pomegranate, and rhubarb. A long, complex finish, with lovely tannins spreading to the sides of the tongue. I wanted to see what this would be like on day two, but I don't know if there'll be any left tomorrow. Tremendous.

I'm still finding this needs a day or some hours of air time to come into it's own. Beautiful nose of sweet spice and macerated cherries, with that nice subtle muskiness. Up front some brief hard strawberry candy, lots of that funky sort of pinot twang, then red cherries that are washed out by a stream of tart strawberry-rhubarb acidity. A very silky texture with what appears to be additional structure this go around with a more pronounced length. Love it.

PnP, showing open aromatics and tart red fruits on the first pour. Nicely structured with some tannin grip but for me, and clearly this is a young wine, they enhance the wine's texture. This opens up with time and gains both depth and complexity. Impressive for a young wine. I like the fruit profile, mostly cranberry/cherry, some cinnamon and allspice. I have a few more bottles to enjoy over the next few years. John did an amazing job with his first PN vintage. Very impressive.

Popped and poured, and drank over 3-4 hours. A tremendous whiff of florals and funk come out of the glass. I like some of the descriptors used by others...funky, gamey, musky, with the underlying florals it was really intriguing. Classic Pinot funk on the palate, with more pomegranate than rhubarb, if you ask me. A medium weight, yet juicy mouthfeel - what a great effort this is.

Crazy good, with, I'm told, rhubarb. Never having had rhubarb, I'll say it has laser-like acidity in a persimmon/red fruit palate. Not ponderous, but invites one to drink more.
Day 1: Gorgeous pinot. Bright and clean and twangy with tons of pomegranate. Me likey. More notes tomorrow. Day 2: Mmm, this hasn't really budged much in a day. It screams of that nearly indescribable thing that I call "Pinot twang" with piney, funky, twangy aromatics. The palate is clean, mouthwatering, a bit more open on day 1 and moving up the ripeness spectrum towards cherry and strawberry. Really lovely.
This is an acid lovers pinot. Bright red fruit which I originally called rhubarb but I like Eric's pomegranate call better, all wrapped in a mouth watering zest. Medium finish. This bottle didn't last long in this crowd.
Unlike any pinot aroma I've had. Gorgeous, musky(!), smoky, a little gamey, with some lift. Day one- Red fruit with a very notable floral like lavendar lift, giving way to the purest rhubarb I've had in a pinot and it's tasty. Day two we have some darker cherry to go along with the red fruit and rhubarb, adding some weight, and a nice layer of clove spice. This is medium full bodied, a little burly for a pinot snob, and very approachable. It is not firmly structured but absolutely does not get blowsy at any point, good acid in this one. Strong inner perfume, well fruited, and a very unique expression. Put this on the holiday table with a couple hours of air, it's an absolute ringer.

Strawberry, Raspberry, Pomegranate, and maybe just a slight bit of funk on the nose. The palate is medium in weight, showing good red fruits consistent with the nose and strong acidity. I did feel some heat on the finish, which was very mellow, and medium in length. An impressive effort
overall, and a nice value play - this is just a fun wine.

Similar to previous bottle but less acid showing and brighter fruit of pomegranate and rhubarb.
Public Service Announcement wine is starting to kickoff lots of sediment so a careful pour or decant is required if you care about such things.

A late entry that we drunk with the 07 Meo Feusselotttes. The Cabot held its own, and some preferred it to the Meo. The QPR here was undeniable.

Love it.

Classic Pinot. Red fruits, cherry, raspberry, slight strawberry, some wet earth, silky mouthfeel, light tannins, good acidity.

How did this get even better in two months I don't know. Mouthcoating with beautiful texture, this packs flavor into every possible crevice. Silky, balanced, a real treat.

Brought to offline to share (pre-Falltacular 2013 dinner) color was light and clear. Cherry fruit on the nose. Nice dry finish. Will spend more time with the next bottle.

Very good pinot. Lots of acid, red fruit, and a good mix of savory stuff as well. Flavors change in the glass, always around a core of deep red fruit and earth. I really enjoyed this.
