Dinner at Barbara and Lance's in Princeton (with Brenda, Jen and Tash plus kids and a dog) (Princeton, NJ): Lovely red fruit, flowers, vanilla, perfume and a touch of spice on the finish. We had it with the Indian food from Cross Culture (not original but a good pairing!). I especially liked it with the tandoori salmon and the samosas. This was the last NJ bottle but Sue has some in Virginia, I think. Drink now but could hold a little longer.
In our line-up, we had two "mountain" pinot noirs (#1 and #3) and this was the "valley" pinot noir, from Carneros, and it showed (to me), with the brighter fruit.

See previous notes....a little more nuanced (secondary flavor profiles beginning to emerge) than the previous bottle but basically everything was the same. The one quick note is the color is beginning to change at the edges. Highly recommended but I think I would drink soon. Two more left that I hope to complete by years end.

A lovely showing for this wine. Vibrant red fruits, flowers, vanilla and perfume. Delicious with the grilled salmon and also with the homemade pizza. (At Donna's pre-fireworks at Princeton reunions). Great QPR for $16.70 / bottle delivered. Drink now / soon.

Very tasty with the Indian food (Cross-culture), especially the tandoori salmon. Lovely red fruit notes and decent complexity on the finish. So much more fresh (less musty) than the bottles from JJ Buckley. Great QPR at $16.70 / bottle. Drink now.

A nice medium - darker ruby colored Pinot. Nice nose with spice box, smoke, and black tea prevalent at least to me. This has changed since the purchase when I had a lot more pepper seemingly prevalent. On the palate, a nice smoky pinot with black cherry and a mild tannin structure. As usual, another great Landmark Pinot. They never seem to disappoint. If you have them in significant numbers I would drink them soon. I have three more I would look to finish by years end.

Red fruit, flowers, lovely perfume and some vanilla. We had this with chicken with Persian rice and it drank much better with the food (and as the 1st wine of the night), than it had before. Still not as good as the 2010 vintage but a nice wine. We then saw this for $12 on close-out and bought a case of it! Great QPR for that price. Drink now / soon.

Red fruit, flowers, perfume and some vanillia. I thought it was similar (but not as good) as the 2010 vintage. Jen didn't like it as well, however. With the mac 'n cheese got lots of vanillia. I used the Coravin so we can try the other half of the bottle later, with more food.

Nose of dried cherries, leather, and a sprig old spearmint. Lots of alcohol burn on the palate during the first, undue canted sip. Tannins are moderate.

By the glass at Sansei Waikiki. On the darker end of the Pinot color spectrum. Smoky dark cherry spicy aromas. Light(-) with slightly grippy cherry skin tannins. Nicely ripe cherry flavours with spice and cola note slightly smoky on the lingering pleasantly bitter finished. Bigger but balanced with nice complexity.

And now with 100% Pinot Noir! The last few bottles of various Sonoma Coast PN have had me guessing what percentage of Syrah was inside. This is medium to full but still comes off as PN with cola, cherry, and spices. Plenty of life left in this.

A dense pinot noir that delivers incredible berry jam flavors with a hint of cola and a silky smooth mouthfeel and finish. Amending score to 91 for color and age potential - still very good. Score [50 + 4 + 12 + 18 + 7 ] = 91.

This wine was better with food non-areated than areated. Pepper, dark cherry and blueberry flavors with a hint of smoke. Fully integrated and nowhere near an "in-your-face" Cali Pinot. This wine was medium bodied with a long finish that left you wanting more. Paired well with salmon cakes and yes, roasted Brussels sprouts. Glad I have another bottle and wish I could order more....

Has the typical Coast profile, not terribly complex, but a solid performer. More sous bois that previous note. Finish is too short to take this bottle beyond a quaffable offering.

Good depth of color for a pinot. Unmistakable Sonoma coast aromas of red fruit and spice. Pleasant smooth mouthfeel with full flavor. Medium bodied and enough acidity for balance. The finish had good length but very minimal complexity. A pleasant Sonoma pinot and decent for the price, but not enough to seek out.

Quality pinot here. Big ripe cherry nose; sassafras, rooibos tea. Medium to full bodied for PN. Good representation of the Sonoma Coast, masculine. Palate represents cherry, black raspberry; very racy. I mistakenly paired this with spicy charcuterie, and a dry jack, and this wine stood up to them well. Silky, balanced finish. Really good value. A can't miss crowd pleaser.

excellent sonoma coast pinot. big nose of dark cherry, maybe even a little spice in the background, but also accented with some floral aeromatics as well. easy drinking medium body with long slow finish that just seems to keep going. I think this is the third vintage of the grand detour we've had and it never fails to disappoint.

18th Annual Central Carolina Food & Wine Festival (Medallion Center, Columbia, SC.): My notes call this Pinot Noir with an attitude. Parker mentions "overwhelming aromatics". This is real Pinot. At $34.95 it is a little outside our daily wine drinking budget, so this was a real treat to taste. The color is dark and intense for a Pinot. I got gingerbread and big brown spice on the nose with some earthy strong and intense ripe black cherry. The fruit is solid and structured black cherry with some ripe plum. Plenty of those secondary, enhancing flavors like wet leaves, mushroom, brown spice, black tea, and tree bark. Balanced and complete, nice acidity, but still rounded and smooth. Really a step up in concentration from what we normally drink. Some pretty serious tannis. Nice job with just the right amount of oak. Big long finish with more wet earth and black cherry.
