The bottle was flawed and post prime. Very brown/vinegar color taste, with some notable amount of sediments and 'dead' nose'. Some signs of metalic taste that I've noticed before in bottles that were exposed to extreme heat conditions. Visual inspection of the second bottle from the same source we have suggests that we will see similar experience. I'd check on a later date this week 50 pts, and second taster said- water, lots of, please!

Garnet with light brown twinges around the edges, fairly clear looking. Nose of lake water, pine, spice, berries and a little tobacco. Flavors of berries, raspberries and strawberries. Medium to tart acidity, resolved tannin, medium to full body. Drink now. Decant and pour and get after it.

This bottle had held up very well. Opened side by side with a bottle of 1977. This bottle was expressing some secondary notes: cedar, tobacco, some graphite, but it was still showing some decent fruit as well. It wasn't one to keep on the table long as after about 30 minutes it began to fade, but that wasn't a problem with seven participants.

Tawny colors, autumn leave orange to the edge, translucent. Aromas are caramel, toffee, hints of coffee, mandarin orange, brown sugar, leather, and sweet raspberry. Taste's are almonds, tea, brown sugar, hints of red fruit, and dry leaves. The tannins are resolved and the finish is sour and exotic spice.

BV Georges de Latour Vertical from 5 Decades (Mpls, MN): dark red color, marked bricking. PNP, poured into decanter and served immediately. 2oz pour over 1.5 hours. The nose has a sweet brown sugar character, floral, leather, funk, dried strawberry, phenolic. The palate still has good intensity, roses, brown sugar, dry cherry, soy, kirsch, dried berries, resolved tannins, medium plus finish. What a splendid showing for this wine. The most impressive thing was how this grew and improved over the 90 minutes we savored it. 92+pts.

Popped and poured through strainer. Cork excellent condition. Great fill. Medium amber/brick with translucent wide rim. Beautiful mint with slight chocolate nose after 10 minutes of odd funk. Not at all maderized like last weeks 1964 and showing WAY better than last bottle 2 years ago. Tannins gone and fruit very faded cherry, w/ tobacco and mint. Pleasant surprise- but way past prime. Cedar and anise arrive on second 2 ounce pour. Not surprisingly, very short on the finish- and undeniably taste can't match nose.

Showing its age relative to the 1969, not completely over the hill, but it has clearly seen better days.

Waaaaayyyyy beyond its prime. I gave it a lower score, but the software wouldn't take it!

A Night to Remember - Don and Sally's 50th Wedding Anniversary (Don and Sally's Home): Still dark red color. Bright red Cabernet fruit, some structure (hints) remaining. Earth, plum, mulberry, some cassis. Long finish.

Gone, but the nose gives a sense of what it was-- plums early then smoke later after it oxidized a bit.

Over the hill, a bit thin and simple. A treat for my 40th birthday, but not for it's drinking quality.
