Monday, April 8, 2024 - On opening, lovely structure, velvety texture on the mouth, the fruit is contending well with the oak. A thrilling and balanced wine - only the slight baked character on the nose stops this from being a magnificent wine.
With time, air, and medium cooked Marriott burger the nose starts to pull itself together, some red fruits, a hint of blueberry. Weirdly as the nose cleans up, the palate becomes more as you’d expect - American oak caramel coming back to the fore. Still a pup but this will be magnificent in time.

They build very few new barrels, and when they do they first fill it with pomace/spent grape must to ensure no oak is ever imparted on the wine that will eventually age in it.
