Sunday, March 17, 2024 - Subsequent notes on this wine from 9 years ago. Dark reddish-purple garnet in color with no signs of aging. Full, forward & attractive nose of dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & currants with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of lavender & violets, spices, dried herbs, dark cocoa, tar, minerals & oak/vanilla undertones. Medium bodied, with good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, rich, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, cocoa, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 13 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development. Although it may hold here for several more years, I doubt any further development would occur.
