Wednesday, October 7, 2015 - Double decanted this wine about an hour before serving. Nose was closed in but initial flavors of intense fruit (plums, blackberries, hint of spice), some complexity in the mid-range, but relatively short finish. This wine needs several hours of breathing to serve at its best and is still developing. Should be more interesting in a year or two, but uncertain about the longevity of this wine. Gutierrez from the Wine Advocate suggest drinking by 2017, but based on this bottle, I would think longer.

Much better the second day. The nose had opened up, followed by intense fruit, and tannins were almost completely dissipated. Good acid balance in the mid-range and finish. Altogether a much nicer wine. This suggests the need for several hours of breathing before serving.
