91 Points

Sunday, August 13, 2017 - Decanted for 4+ hours. Heavy sediment in bottle.
This wine is 94% Syrah co-fermented with 6% Viognier, 100% de-stemmed and aged in 35% new French oak for 15 months with only one racking.
Aromas lean on the savory side but shows deep notes of fresh picked Marionberry and smashed blueberry before folding into scents of black licorice, aged meats, exotic spice, turned earth, black olive, toasted oak, vanilla and dried violets.
The palate shows dense fruits of blackberry, plum and blueberry that evolve to reveal notes aged meats, kalamata olives, exotic spice, black licorice, toast, vanilla, oak, crushed dried violets and earth. The moderate tannins are fine and acidity structured. The moderate finish is meaty.
