Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - This is great, but drink up.
In many ways this reminded me of a lovely mature St Julien/St Estephe, but with an Italian twist.
Brightish red colour, indicating this will not last for another 5 years.
On the nose leather, gentle wood, truffle and very ripe red fruit.
On the palate very soft tannins, red fruit and leather.
We had this with grilled steak with porcini raviolis, some chestnut mushrooms and green beans. To top it off we had some slices of foie gras. I was amazed by how well the foie gras went with the wine, perhaps even better than with the steak!
All in all this was absolutely brilliant and I will definitely have a Tignanello again.
