Thursday, July 29, 2010 - Stone -- quite a lot of stone -- on the nose along with plenty of sweet cherries, dirt, and Indian spices. Fairly large and mouthfilling, but with lots of acidity and minerality as well; the texture is smooth but firm rather than plush. Orange, tea, cherry, and herb flavors are laced with minerals and black pepper. The finish is nicely sustained at the front of the mouth but as seems typical with J.K. Carriere wines drops off quickly at mid and aft palate and the wine is complete but not yet complex. Tasted over two nights.
