This was outstanding and worth the considerable library upcharge from the winery. Really a unique Pinot with 16+ years of age on it and drinks like a much younger wine. Yet the complexity of earth (hint of barnyard) with subtle strawberry fruit and stone is where the age pays off. One of my best domestic Pinot experiences this year.

Delicious and delightful. Would make any occasion special. Perfect tight balance of fruit earth and wood. No jam. So good it seems to evaporate from the glass.

A well balanced wine, not the fruit bom that you may expect. Balanced fruit with earthy tannin. A finish that seems to only get better as time allows you to drink it. I'm glad I have 1 more bottle.

Popped/poured. On the nose - full fruit with some spicy sweetness, dusty dirt road, alluring wood and a hint of candlewax. Most dramatic is the "dirt road" component which is really quite noticeable (and pleasant). On the palate, well-balanced between acidity and fruit, but the package remains relatively tight, with a soft but persistent tannic bite on a decent length finish. The dusty note from the nose also extends to the palate. A big pinot in Oregon terms, with more precision and less jam than fuller versions hailing from California.
One bottle left, and I expect it will only get better. I don't plan on opening the last one for a couple of years.

Stone -- quite a lot of stone -- on the nose along with plenty of sweet cherries, dirt, and Indian spices. Fairly large and mouthfilling, but with lots of acidity and minerality as well; the texture is smooth but firm rather than plush. Orange, tea, cherry, and herb flavors are laced with minerals and black pepper. The finish is nicely sustained at the front of the mouth but as seems typical with J.K. Carriere wines drops off quickly at mid and aft palate and the wine is complete but not yet complex. Tasted over two nights.
