2016 Emeritus Vineyards Pinot Noir Pinot Hill EastSonoma Coast more |
5/20/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsGave it a 40-45 minute decant before consuming. Wine has a lovely “pop” of cherry and other red fruit flavors along with a hint of leather/earth. Very smooth mouthfeel and the Finnish does not really linger. Compared to the 2016 Don’s Block that was consumed the night before, this wine does come in second place but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a really good wine. Very enjoyable and will buy again on the next trip to Emeritus as part of the portfolio from the winemaker. |

5/19/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 94 pointsPrior bottle was back in August of 2022 and the time in the bottle was well spent! Gave it a 45 minute decant and was met with smooth strawberry and cherry flavors. Low acidity made for an easy drinking Pino that was enjoyed with Solomillo Al Whiskey for dinner. A great wine from Emeritus as they move on from the William Wesley wine era. Will hang on to the remaining couple of bottle to see what develops over the next 12-18 months. |

5/16/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 92 pointsBottle had been sitting in the cellar for a while and was able to give it 45 minutes in the decanter before the first sip. Plenty of red cherry and raspberry with a little earth and minerality on the backend. Really seems to have enjoyed the time in the bottle as it was very smooth and easy drinking from the start. Has life left in the bottle so will try and give it another 12-18 months before having another but that could be easier said than done! |

5/4/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsOpened and decanted for 45 minutes before consuming and the first glass was wonderful! Hints of leather, licorice and red fruit with a long lingering finish. Great balance of tannins and acid. Did not realize when I grabbed this out of the cellars, that had consumed a bottle a little over a month before. Has plenty of life left so will wait 13-18 months beidee having another of this vintage. |

4/29/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 92 pointsA very solid offering from Gavin. Notes of red cherry, cranberry, spice on the front with the plosive dropping out on the backend. Drinking very well and have found this to be a favorite from Chanin. |

4/25/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsAlways enjoy a bottle of ROAR and this one did not disappoint as a pop-n-pour! Seemed to have more of the darker flavors - blueberry, plum, cola & a little dark cherry. They all blend well together has a nice finish that has you wanting more. Drinking well now and will continue to evolve - will try to give it 12-18 months before having another of this vintage. |

4/22/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsGave it a 30 minute decant. Nice and smooth with cherry cola flavor. Wasn’t heavy or thick with its mouthfeel . Seemed to be one lighter the longer it was open with more and more red fruit. Very tasty! This is always a favorite vineyard from WS. |

2013 Square Peg Pinot Noir Estate VineyardRussian River Valley more |
4/14/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 96 pointsIt’s been 3 years since the last time consumed this vintage and all I can say is WOW!! It’s hard to believe it could have gotten any smoother with time…::but it has. Decanted for 45 minutes and it was just a lovely balance of red fruit/acid/tannins. The finish still lingered as before, but that is a good thing. Still seems like it has life left in the bottle and while sad to be done with 2013, it holds promise to what other Square Peg vintages can become…….if you can keep them “laying down” in your cellar! |

4/8/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 92 pointsFirst of this vintage and it seems to in a good place right now. Nice red fruit and a finish that is a little on the shorter side. Overall a nice RRV that is very enjoyable now but has plenty of life left in the bottle. Will try and wait another 18-24 months with this vintage. |

4/6/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsHas been 2 years since last had this vintage and it was exactly what it needed. Gave it 45 minutes or so in the decanter and it really allowed the cherry/orange/spice notes to come out from the beginning. Lots of flavor in this dark ruby colored wine. It was very smooth. Drinking well now but has plenty of life left in the bottle. |

3/30/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 95 pointsWOW! What a great KB SVD wine! Plenty of cherry after an hour decant with just a hint of spice on the back. Had a nice long finish. Was a very enjoyable wine but sad to say that this vintage is gone…….but it won’t be forgotten! |

3/23/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 94 pointsWhat a fantastic wine! Haven’t had one in 15 months and all that has happened is that it has become darker/deeper & bolder during that time. A very balanced wine with a lovely lingering finish. Continues to remind you of a RRV from Kosta Browne……and that’s not a bad thing. Still has some life left in the bottle. |

2020 Littorai Pinot Noir Les LarmesAnderson Valley more |
3/21/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsGave it 45 minutes in the decanter. This is a dark colored wine with some power behind it like wines from the Anderson Valley typically have. However it is very easy to drink with cherry on the front and a loverly voluptuous finish! Am going to try and leave the other bottles from this vintage in the cellar as it should keep aging nicely and could be spectacular in 3-5 years but it’ll be hard to keep them that long! |

3/14/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 91 pointsGrabbed the wrong bottle out of the cellar and didn’t realize it until it was too late as. Had just consumed one of these a month ago. This is usually not a PnP wine for me. That being said, it was not a bad experience. There was a little bitterness early on, but it went away during the first glass so was able to enjoy the bright red fruit and minerals. So long 2017! |

2/11/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsAs have done in the past, decanted for45-60 minutes which takes away the bitterness this wine has when it’s first opened. That time causes it to be very smooth with lots of bright red fruit with a little minerality on the back. Still plenty of life left in the bottle so might try vintages on either side of this one and have another 2017 in early 2025. |

2018 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir West RidgeSonoma Coast more |
3/15/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis wine is drinking very well right now but there is plenty of life in the bottle. Decanted for an hour and from the first glass, had tastes of red fruit as well as some leather. Finish lasted a long time which was a good thing for this “tasty” wine. Is on the lighter side. Have always heard good things about Hirsch and this wine did not disappoint. Looking forward to trying another bottle in the future to give the ones in the cellar a little more time for further development. |

2013 Lutum Pinot Noir La Rinconada VineyardSta. Rita Hills more |
2/29/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 95 pointsGave it a 45 minute decant given the age of this bottle. Has been well over a year since had consumed a bottle from this vintage and this was last one in the cellar. IT WAS OUTSTANDING!!! Very smooth and silky with the usual cherry and raspberry flavors with that hint of spice on the back. Has a nice long finish and has been just a wonderful wine to enjoy over the last 5 years. On to other vintages as the Lutum part of the cellar dwindles. |

3/11/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 92 pointsVery nice dark ruby colored Pinot. Decanted for 30 minutes after opening but you could tell when the bottle was uncorked that it was going to bee very good! Has some power & brightness with plenty of cherry. Might wait until Q1 of 2025 before opening another bottle from this vintage. Solid offering from Anthill! |

3/10/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 94 pointsSo so good! Gave it a 30 minute decant and it was so smooth with the fist glass. Not heavy at all with a lovely mouth feel. Very nice red fruit and a lovely finish. |

2/15/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 93 pointsAnother solid vintage from Square Peg. A lighter RRV with plenty of fruit flavor - cranberry being the most notable. Has a pop of flavor on the front which to me, seems typical for this particular wine. Opened the bottle 30 minutes before consuming and it was very smooth from the start. Typically this vineyard is fine as a PnP unless it’s got some age on the bottle. Very nice mouthfeel. Wine is drinking very well now, but it should develop more as time goes on so probably won’t have another from this vintage until sometime in 2025 as have other vintages to consume now. |

2/5/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 97 pointsDecanter for 45-60 minutes and it was as good as the last bottle consumed over 2 years ago. Fabulous red fruits - cherry and rasberry in this medium bodied Pinot that has such a long and luscious finish. Remains one of the top wines in the collection and that I’ve consumed. Will hang on to the last bottle from this vintage as the newer vintages I have access to a high bar to surpass this one! |

2015 Emeritus Vineyards Pinot Noir William WesleySonoma Coast more |
1/29/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 95 pointsWine is drinking very well right now! Gave it a 30 minute decant which really brought out the bright red fruit. Well balanced between the tannins and acid and enjoyed the finish that lingers just long enough. One more bottle to go for this vintage and the William Wesley era will be over for Emeritus although still have a ‘12 and ‘14 hanging around. |

1/25/2024 - wthad4 Likes this wine: 92 pointsOpened bottle 30 minutes before drinking and loved it from the first taste! Plenty of dark fruit but wasn’t too heavy and went well with the spice taste. It’s a powerful wine from Anthill but is one of my favorites. Love the silkiness of the wine. |
