It's pretty sad when you drink so much wine, you are too busy to even add tasting notes but this wine seriously deserves attention. It is really quite outstanding. The color is deep ruby and the nose is quite complex offering up scents of cherry, mint, cedar, vanilla and sweet tobacco. In the mouth the wine attacks the palate with firm tannins before giving way to a cornucopia of fruits such as raspberries, blueberries, pomegranate as well as cherry. It finishes strong with cedar box knocking on the door and certainly promises a bright future ahead!timistic future a

I really think this wine is in the perfect place right now. It has really improved dramatically since I last tasted it. The wine boasts a lovely deep cranberry color while offering up notes of wildflowers, strawberries and herbs. On the palate the wine offers up wonderful acidity and fine tannins before giving way to a wine which has lovely balance. Strawberries, rhubarb and tart cherry come to life as the wine lingers effortlessly.

This is my last bottle of this wine. It has held up incredibly well in my opinion. There is still an abundance of fruit and the wine fills the palate with dark fruits before finishing rather quickly. This should be consumed within the next couple of years as I do not see it improving.

This is the 1st of 6 bottles and I have to believe this is definitely in its sweet spot. Wonderful dark blackberry color with a nose hinting at sage and coffee. The wine bursts of blueberry and has a lasting finish which is almost creamy in nature with well integrated tannins. Paid $29 per bottle for this and wish I bought a case because it is really wonderful. Should be enjoyed over the next 5 years.

I am not sure why people are failing to recognize this wine's beauty. It is an utterly wonderful pinot depending on the style you prefer. The wine's color is garnet red with hints of cherry, wildflowers and sage. It is a graceful wine which takes control of your palate from start to finish as it fills your mouth with ripe strawberries, raspberries and even a hint of cola before it ends with a sense of creaminess. This wine is full and alive and simply delicious from start to finish.

This wine is spectacular. It has held up incredibly well and deserves one's full attention. It boasts an unbelievable deep blueberry color and tantalizes the nose with aromas of coffee, malt, boysenberry, cinnamon and clove before hitting the palate head on with blueberry and blackberry while also giving the taster a mouthful of licorice, pepper and a sassy tannic grip. It is an utter joy to be able to have this wine. I am only saddened by the fact I only have 1 bottle left!

This wine prides itself on cellaring. It deserves enormous respect for its impeccable balance. One can't help but be captivated by its color which is absolutely intoxicating not to mention its nose which prides itself on presenting a cornucopia of scents that suggest, nutmeg, lavender, roast beef, mint and rhubarb! My goodness this wine sings in your mouth as it reveals dark fruits like blueberries and blackberries before gripping your palate with fabulous tannins and ending with a very interesting finish suggestive of Turkish coffee and cream. Dunn is sophisticated in every sense. It is undoubtedly one of the most well made wines in California which is so well made and yet very affordable compared to countless other wineries whose wines aspire to be this good!

This wine is an absolute bargain when you consider its QPR. It offers a glorious deep burgundy color providing the nose notes of mint, cocoa and pepper. It invites the palate immediately before filling your mouth with dark fruits and fine silky tannins before letting licorice sneak in. It grips your mouth and provides a wonderful lasting finish. This wine performs extraordinarily well and deserves a great deal of attention for those seeking affordability alongside great quality!

I am really pleased with this wine and how it is holding up. The color is a gorgeous deep blueberry with a nose highlighting black raspberry, vanilla and oak. It boasts a wonderful body as it fills your mouth with luscious fruits such as blackberry, cherry, and blueberry with a hint of clove, pepper and oak. The tannins are submerged but persist through the finish which is medium to long. I truly believe this wine is better than most recent ratings would suggest.

What an absolutely lovely wine. As soon as it is opened, the wine's bouquet bursts with lilacs, raspberries, cedar and tobacco. The color is a wonderful brick red which shows some age yet this wine remains incredibly fresh and fruit forward. The tannins are definitely alive and well as the wine lingers effortlessly in your mouth before giving way to red currant, tart cherry and bay leaf. This is so well made and highlights the true beauty of aged Rioja. Gracias!

This wine is really very lovely. It is incredibly balanced and exhibits wonderful harmony in terms of acidity, fruit and structure. It seems somewhat restrained in a sense. Dark plum in color with a nose that suggests lilac, white pepper, pencil lead and strawberry jam. Yet it eases onto the palate effortlessly as super fine tannins tantalize your tastebuds before giving way to an herbal palate filled with cherry pie and blueberry compote as the finish slaps you in the face. This wine needs to be taken seriously. Not for the faint of heart. It is a wine which demands serious attention. Bravo!

This wine is just fabulous. It is a brooding shiraz that is dark crimson purple in color which boasts a bouquet screaming of black raspberry jam and also has a smokiness. First of 6 bottles and I am very pleased with what I am tasting. Plum colored with a bouquet of sweet tobacco, rose petals and cherry before offering the taster a wine which is very silky with finely integrated tannins that give way to strawberries and licorice. The wine does fall a bit short in terms of its finish but I do believe this wine will provide at least another 5 years of drinking.

2005 Schild Estate Shiraz

3/15/2013 - Wine Nut Likes this wine: 90 points

This is my last bottle of 6 and honestly I do not feel it has ever delivered to its fullest potential. I continue to enjoy the 2004 which is well above this which is somewhat surprising given how great the 2005 vintage was for Barossa. Nonetheless, the wine has a wonderful deep burgundy color and offers up a lovely bouquet filled with roasted meat, sage, and marzipan. The wine has a very nice mouthfeel but it just fails to deliver the kind of complexity one would expect for a 93 rated wine by Wine Spectator as well as the lacklustre finish. Black cherry and blueberry proudly display themselves as well as licorice but sadly the tannins are very faint at best before giving away to a finish which is just not there. After the scandal at Schild I have refused to buy any more because I feel I can't trust the winery. I think they deliver good value but there are countless other syrahs and shiraz out there which offer ample choice at a comparable price point.

This is really a very nice Pinot but for those looking for a more bold style this is not it. The wine has a lovely garnet color and gives a bouquet filled with bay leaves, raspberry and pepper. On the palate the wine is light and silky upon which it delivers a delicate balance of fine tannins, lovely acidity and a flavor profile suggesting strawberries, sassafras and and herbs. Yes, there is a hint of heat on the back end. This is my 2nd of 6 bottles and I honestly believe this is the intended style of this wine. While not my favorite Oregon pinot by any means, I do think it provides an enticing tasting experience. I will not taste this for at least another year to see whether the heat dissipates. Regardless, it is certainly a very enjoyable wine that offers a great deal of finesse.

I confess this wine really disappointed me. The 1st of 6 bottles and I was dumbfounded. Lovely deep burgundy color but the bouquet was truly lacking. Carlisle blows this away as do many other Zins. The fruit was lush and very smooth but essentially lacked any real grip leaving you wanting more. I see this wine as having a very short drinking window. Perhaps I'm more accustomed to Sonoma Zinfandels or this bottle is just not up to stuff. For the price I think it should really deliver more and by the look of the other scores I can't be too far off the mark. Drink now

This is what great Oregon Pinot is all about. I am already grieving the fact this is my last bottle of 6 because it has been nothing short of spectacular each and every time I have tasted it. Fabulous deep plum colored wine that gives way to notes of anise, pommegranate and strawberries. The wine is completely integrated offering a lovely balance of soft tannins, acidity and complexity where the taster enjoys cherry, cola and a sense of earthiness. A true delight indeed!

Sadly my last bottle of this wine. It has never disappointed me. I am very pleased with how this wine has aged over the years. It has not lost its fruit at all. A lovely plum color, with notes of mint, lavender, white pepper and strawberry licorice. The wine is so soft and gentle as it caresses your mouth with cherry, blueberry and cream before this medium to full bodied wine finishes strong with fine tannins. An Excellent wine and glad I have the 2006 to enjoy. :-)

The 1st of 6 bottles. Wonderful deep cherry red color with whose nose offers up subtle notes of white truffle, roast meat, strawberries and orange peel. The wine demonstrates fabulous balance of acidity, texture and tannic backbone alongside cherry, charcoal, and dried herbs and rubber! This wine really requires some patience. It has opened up considerably within the past hour. It is a medium bodied Brunello with an elegant profile but is very very good. It is far more restrained than most other Brunellos but yet showcases the beauty of Sangiovese. I am curious where this may lead one in the years to come.

Wow has this wine ever gone down hill since I last had it. Parker appears to be right on the drinking window for this one. I believe it has hit its peak. The wine just couldn't get better. It was like the Little Engine that couldn't. Lovely color and nose but unfortunately the wine fell flat. The fruit is lacklustre at best and the finish is uninspiring. I will probably give my last 3 bottles away!

I have yet to taste a better Shiraz from Australia. I am quite sure they are out there but I have not had the pleasure of having them. This one however continues to captivate me. My 4th of 6 bottles and I am growing sad knowing I have very few left to enjoy. The color is a beautiful deep purplish black. It's nose is simply HEAVENLY! Blueberry Pie, eucalyptus and cocoa come to life in a full bodied yet perfectly balanced wine which makes you BEG for more. It attacks your palate immediately and presents chocolate ganache, caramel and toffee before it reveals a hint of smooth and rich coffee folowed by ripe cherries. The tannins are still present and the finish can't be described as anything less than GLORIOUS. It is an utterly Magnificent wine that deserves the utmost respect. It will easily last another decade.
