It certainly does not have the freshness and versatility of Champagne when it comes to pairing with a range of appetizers, hence I guess more of a stand-alone drink. An acquired taste for sure. NR |

Nice lemon/lime oil zest, acidity there but fine and measured. Like this as a straightforward Riesling with enough complexity to keep it interesting. |

Flavours are beautiful rich berries, black fruit, fine laced tannins, like a fine subtle young wine waiting for aging. Very good but way too young. As the bottle disappears it is apparent that while this is a very good 'baby' it needs a long time time growing up. Note to self - don't touch for another 5 years |

Tasting is sweet then some redcurrant acidity cuts through, it's warming, tight and fruity, background fine tannins. Very nice! On the nose, there is very ripe, but not cooked, blackberry, wild strawberry, cedar, eucalyptus and some smoke. The palate is complex with layers upon layers of dark fruits, cassia bark, tobacco. There is enough acidity so that it doesn't feel heavy. The finish was long. Really drinking well now. I can't imagine any further improvement with time. |
