This wine is holding its weight gracefully, I tried this wine a few years ago and its evolution is amaizing. Love it full of ripen straberries among with hints of mint and velvety tannins.

94-95 pts.

Four years since our last bottle, this is the last of 3 we bought from Barbara’s living room. Color has faded from purple to brown-garnet. Plum nose with a hint of barrel, the bottle was slow-oxed for 2 hours. Fading fruit on the palate, this was truly excellent.

Dark red with fading at the edges. Green and funky on the nose even after being open for 90 minutes. Plums and cherries on the palate. Sharp tannins, hot, decent acidity, bit out of balance. Finishes short and harsh. Past prime. Bought from winery and stored under good conditions.

Our final bottle, double decanted off its sediment and poured 1.25 hrs laters. Brick red color showing age. A worn leather note opens the show, giving way to black cherry and red plum aromas. Plush and integrated, with flavors of red fruit, plum, coffee and cherry cordial, finishing with good length. One taster guessed Bordeaux, others red blends but DR correctly identified merlot. Fully mature with no benefit to cellaring further. Drink now.

Drinking well. Took a few minutes to open up a fair amount of sediment.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (EBCC): Blind. Faded garnet color with some bricking. Tobacco, earth, currants and licorice notes. Medium-bodied and fully-integrated, showing black fruit and spice flavors. Picks up a molasses quality as it breathes in the glass. WOTF for a few of the group. I did not pick this out as our Paloma. 92-93 pts.

A terrific showing, having been gently double decanted off its sediment and placed back under cork 2.25 hours before the flight was poured. This took another 10-15 minutes in the glass to really hit its stride.

Pop and pour with easily the best showing of this bottling that I can remember. Dark chocolate and loads of dark red fruits on the nose and palate. Throwing a lot of sediment.

Touche de réduction, nez de pruneaux, chocolat, prune, cerise. La bouche est soyeuse, agréable, longue et goute le gâteau forêt noir. Le lendemain le vin était encore meilleur.

Bold with plenty of dark black fruit. Plenty of tanin to last 5 more years. I am waiting 2 years for the next one.

Good wine, but past its prime. Tired with fruit fading quickly. Drink up if you’ve got em!

Just a baby. Still quite nice but would wait a few years to allow tannins to mellow.

Opened my last bottle, along side a Cayuse 2011 Cailloux Vineyard Syrah. What a delightful surprise the Paloma was! It had been cellared since the original purchase from Paloma.
Notes from the group:
Faint nose, but still some fruit. Color is still dark, but no bricking.
Tasting revealed no sense of being too old - still beautiful fruit. Tasted like deep, heavy black cherry. Fully resolved tannins, not at all thin. Great mouthfeel, no hard edges with gorgeous fruit flavors that went on and on the back of the tongue. Still some complexity - the flavors kept changing. It's too bad Paloma no longer produces Syrah!

Ripe fresh berries on the nose. Classic Merlot. Full, balanced body. Drinking well. Drink now or over the next couple years. My storage was not ideal.

PnP. In a good spot, but improved slightly over the hour or so it was consumed. Has some life left in it to be sure. Strongly recommend a decant or pass through a screen filter - significant amount of gelatin-like sediment present in every bottle I’ve opened.

Similar to prior notes after double decanting for 2 hrs; delicious, but like most 13s, seems young, drink or preferably hold for another year or 2

Really hitting its stride. Big and lush with black cherry, blackberry and a lovely hint of menthol. Should hold at this high level for several years. What a delight. Note that there is significant sediment, so a careful decant is highly recommended.

Opaque red. Muted aromas of plums and berries. Intense, rich fruit on the palate, plums, black Cherries, blackberries/. Smooth tannins, great acidity and balance. Finmishes moderately long with plums and blackberries. Has stood up extremely well. Drink next 3 to 4 years.

My last one of this vintage. Almost 3 years since the last. CellarTracker says drink by 2024 but this one is JUST starting to get rolling IMO. Pours a light violet color to the glass. Nose is beautiful black cherry cola and herbs. The tiniest bit of age on the nose that carries over to the palate. On the front, a ROBUST amount of black cherry, oregano, complex, acidic front yet well integrated, brambly middle and finishes with a cola and cherry twizzler note. Went very well with herbed lean grass fed beef burger with goat cheese and arugula with lemon mayo. Herbal brambly burger, red fruit cola Merlot with a bit of age showing....what a nice combo. Wish I had a couple more of these!
