Last bottle of this wine, previously tasted it 4 yrs ago.
Seems like the time in the bottle has significantly improved this lovely PN, with aromas of red and black fruits, stems, camphor, espresso, and mint.
The palate shows a beautiful, medium bodied wine with very nicely ripened red and black fruits, echoing flavors from the nose.
Finishes with fine tannins and generous acidity, this wine is in a great drinking window right now.

2nd bottle from a 6 pack. Last consumed about 18 mos ago.
Drank with dear friends at AQS, the wine was firing on all cylinders and approached perfection in the moment.
Splash decanted and consumed over ~45 mins...utterly refined, elegant, with red tart cherries and spice, brilliant earthy notes, long and incredibly brilliant finish with lovely tannins and supporting acidity. Drink through 2028 or so, just awesome.

1st bottle from a pair purchased in 2013 upon release.
The nose and palate are quite shy upon initial opening, but I am seeing what others are saying as I give this wine 1-2 hours of air.
A rocky, mineral-infused base is adorned with nearly-ripened black and red fruits, some savory bacon fat, campfire smoke, black pepper, and stems.
There is a structure that is evident from the get-go, and it remains a force to be reckoned with as it gently allows the fruit and savory flavors to peek through and expand with air.
There is a beautifully supportive acidity adds to the flavor profile. Tannins are softening with age, this should drink nicely for another 8-10 yrs.

Bottle 3 of 6. Last tasted 1 yr prior, this one is singing beautifully.
No formal TN, but pretty and delicate roses, tart cherry fruit, sweet tobacco leaf, spice and a hint of anise on the long and drying finish.
Drinking so nicely, enjoy through 2025 or so.

Served this wine with deer sausage, cheese, and crackers...paired beautifully.
This wine is really tasty, I mean seriously delicious IMHO.
Black pepper, black cherry and kirsch, wet soil and tar, a bit of refreshing orange rind.
The tannins are light, the acidity is bright. Drink this pretty food wine through the end of 2020+.

We stayed at their agriturismo in Verduno in July 2019 and had the most lovely tour of their winery. It is amazing when they sell their basic Barolo for $26 USD and the high end Acclivi / Cannubi / Monvigliero for $50 USD. Wish we could get it for that in the States.

I have fallen in love with this Domaine over the past 5 years.
Found this Grand Cru bottling and picked up 6 bottles. This is my 1st bottle of the 6.
DG May 2017, with 5g/L dosage.
Brilliant nose of fresh strawberries, tart raspberries, tangerine zest, chalk, and almond paste.
On the palate, insanely bright and laser-focused energy, showing pure strawberry and tart red cherry fruit, tense soil signature, pure orange/tangerine citrus tension, and lingering flavors of freshly baked bread dough.
This wine flirts with perfection, it is utterly delicious to the point I close my eyes as I enjoy each sip.
Marvelous, drink now through 2028.

Piedmont; 2/11/2019-2/15/2019 (Alba, Italy): A very kind gift from Fabio as we were leaving from our tasting -- use it as an apertif or after-dinner drink, he said. Well, we had it with some (fairly decent) hotel pizza, and I don't think he'd object to that. This is a very pretty wine, with some light red fruit, and just a mild hit of tannin. It's not concentrated nor heavy on the palate, and there's some really nice drinkability here overall. I haven't had enough pelaverga (has anyone?) to be able to determine whether or not this is true to the grape, or what, in fact, are the distinguishing characteristics of said grape, but given the name on the label, I'm fairly confident that this is true to form.

Had this iconic 50 year old wine to celebrate my birth year.
As this wine was opened and decanted, and metamorphasized over an hour or so, it flirted with perfection...alas, it was a perfect wine to me, in this moment. Fantastic earthy notes and flavors like tobacco leaf and old leather chairs, beautifully supported by tart red cherry pit, plum, and fig, with resolved tannins, gorgeously lifted acidity, and a forever finish. I bought 3 bottles to drink this year. 2 to go.

Perfection, this wine was drinking beautifully after a 30 min decant, and has reached an apogee.
Beautiful red currant, cassis, pencil shavings, tobacco, wet earth, gorgeous soil signature.
The long finish is supported by perfect acidity and finely-grained tannins, giving the finish a beautiful tension and astringency that I long for.
This wine will likely last through 2025 or so. Lovely.

Opened 2 days ago, consumed half the bottle and the TN is from today. Last bottle was consumed about 18 months ago.
Nose of pipe tobacco, just incredibly precise. Then tart red cherry fruit, roses, light anise, and tar.
On the palate, med bodied, energetic and lively acidity, tense tannins still unwinding, to reveal sour cherry pit, cooking spices, light licorice, and wet soil. The tannins are so beautifully astringent, they just keep pulling inward on the cheeks and gums. The acidity is beautifully balanced. The finish is long and satisfying.
A gorgeous entry level Barolo...drinking beautifully now, through 2024+. Awesome juice, what a WFTM.

Blind tasting at Rob & Bev's; 3/22/2014-3/23/2014: This Sta Rita Pinot showed a med ruby core, with a pale brick color at the rim.
The developing nose offered up med intensity notes of predominantly bright red fruit like strawberry and raspberry, with some gentle spiciness, as well as a caramel note, maybe from the oak.
The palate showed off a dry wine, med(-) in body and med+ in alcohol, with med+ intensity notes of strawberry pie, ripe raspberry fruit, cola, and a bit of pipe tobacco. The flavors are mostly fruity, although not in an over-bearing way that is typical of so many Calif PN's (for which I am thankful, since I have 3 more bottles). There is med acidity, and the tannins are med intensity but rounded and quite supple, allowing this wine to be in an ideal drinking window right now, through 2017+. Pretty good Sta Rita Pinot IMHO. I like this region for balanced PN's better than RRV.

This is a truly beautiful bottle of restrained, elegant, delicious and perfectly ripened RRV Pinot.
Very light in color, med(-) ruby at the core, fading to an almost colorless rim.
Nose is very RRV, but in a perfect sense, showing off red cherry, tart plum skin, spice box and soil-inflected tones to keep the tart and savory components in balance, like a well-made perfume.
The palate is textbook PN perfection, repeating tart cherry and plum notes from the nose, adding tobacco, cola, orange zest, umami, gentle but persistent spiciness. It's all there, supported by med alcohol, med tannins that are now rounding and drinking beautifully, and a delightful med(+) acidity, higher than what is typical in PN, especially from Calif. The finish is med length and just hones in on the cherry and spice for 30 secs or so, leaving you wanting for another sip.
Drinking beautifully right now, and I would hesitate to say how long this wine will last since I haven't tried many Swan PN's as they get over 7 yrs of age. I've read that they seem to last quite awhile, and based on the gorgeous balance and plentiful fruit, with great acidity, I'd say this wine will further improve for another 3-4 years and drink well through 2020+. It is sooo delicious now, drink one if you have a few bottles and see how the other bottle ages…Nice.

My first Vilmart ever! It came off the truck yesterday, I'm trying one of my bottles today. Certainly not ideal, but was too anxious...
Lot "L12 11" which I assume means disgorged Dec 2011.
This sparkling wine is clear, showing a fine stream of tiny bubbles, med straw in color at the core, with a watery rim.
The nose is clean, developing, with med(+) aromas of bread yeast, apple, smoke, tangerine, and minerality.
The palate shows a wine with some gently apparent residual sugar, with med body, a fine and creamy mousse, and med(-) alcohol (listed at 12.5% abv). The flavors are med intensity, including baked apples, pear, orange and tangerine, as well as chalky minerals, and honey. There is a rich and creamy texture to the palate, which is cut to the quick, and then some, by the med(+) acidity. The wine has a med(+) length finish that is laden with citrus curd, giving it great lift.
This wine is richer and more balanced than most Champagnes I have tasted in this price range. Lovely balance between sweetness and acidity. Well structured, built to last, will definitely improve for another 3 years in bottle and drink well through 2020 or so.

Thanks for the reminder. I just updated my note. It read "L12 11", which I assume means the bottles were disgorged in Dec of 2011. Sound right? So mine would have an additional year of bottle age (although I just purchased them...).
