Enjoyed with antipasti
Had with a winter pesto pasta then Peposo Alla Fiorentina, Mashed Potato, Cavolo Nero
Piedmont interloper in otherwise Tuscan lineup.
On the nose waxy pineapple and papaya with a little lanolin
Rich palate, with a nice herbal component, but good tangy crispness.
Pretty good value!

Rich nose but with a lifted vanilla note, feels opulent but natural vs confected
Lots on the palate - custard apple, vanilla, a little smoked salt. Long finish. Lovely.

Another left turn to a very different nose.
Tangerine, dried pineapple, poached pear, cinnamon spice, a little furmint element (thanks James).
Quite minerally on the palate with a freshness and lift but also rounded a touch oily. Interesting to have this in this very diverse flight of whites

With more Peposo and Mash
Crunchy red plum, a little smoke, some Parma violet, tomato paste
Really rich deep cherry, a hint of cough linctus (in a good way), fresh a lifted, sapid finish. Really really lovely finish.
I thought this was an excellent example of how Rosso can play a different game to Brunello and excel at it.

Decanted in advance. I'd very much enjoyed the 2018 of this so was looking forward to try this.
Nose gives soft ripe plum, florals, some balsamic and tomato - all very moreish sapid.
Really deep rich on the attack and mid palate, dark plum but fresh and sapid, present but powdery tannins. Perhaps the finish a little light but it had set high expectations. Good value and keen to try more

3rd time having this vintage and really feel this is starting to hit its stride.
On the nose savoury meaty nose, saddle leather, dark cherry, terracotta.
Palate is phenomenal result deep rich red cherry but blue fruit too. Excellent depth but balance with good acidity and very long finish. I have a couple more bottles that I'll hold for now. A treat!

First time trying this producer who has vines on Montosoli.
Nose of ripe red plum, a little sweetness alongside the sapid fruit,
Really yummy palate - rich ripe plum and red cherry. Really intense, super sapid and complemented by great minerality (whatever that means!). Very long finish. Impressive.

Nose of lifted red fruit, a little meat and earth.
Good depth on the palate but elegance too, really walking that Brunello tightrope of grace and power.

First time trying Phenomena and what a treat. This was opened by mistake so an extra-special pleasure.
Nose gives ripe red cherry, a distinct old church and incense note, and generally smells expensive (Thanks Oliver).
Another great Brunello doing that iron fist in the velvet glove balancing act. Surprisingly accessible now and immeadiately passed my "Wine Searcher" test with me buying a case online then and there.

I thought this was on form.
Nose of lifted red fruit, a little overripe plum, tomato
On the palate rich red fruit with good balancing acidity and silky tannin - quite young despite the 24 years. Just enough Tuscan typicity for me.

Tried alongside its stable mate of Sammarco (the 1999) and this edged it today.
Takes you on a journey of dark blue plum, chocolate, graphite. All held nicely in balance with good acidity and structure. Evolving in harmony with time in hand.
Only downside in the company would be the lack of Tuscan typicity but a great wine!

First time trying Ornellaia. Decanted the day before.
Everything here is really rich and deep with supremely intense ripe dark plum. A lot of structure on the palate but not as much acidity as it could take. Sleek, intense and polished overall but it hasn't really won be over as a wine i'd seek out which is just as well!

Just a hint of browning in the glass
The nose has a surprising fresh herbal note with lifted dried cherry and plum. Surprising intensity in the glass - really sapid and delicious. The bright red cherry element speaks of Tuscany. Lovely stuff

I missed notes on the Ornellaia dessert wine!

Tangy but waxy lemon. Good fullness and long finish. Soft mousse.
Rather nice
