France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Side-by-side with the Batard, which is showing early signs of oxidation. The Grandes Ruchottes was much more fresh with near Grand Cru depth. Delicious.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Side by side with the Grandes Ruchottes which was killer and fresh. This bottle of Batard showed heavy with oxidation settling in. Not fully off, but not what it should be.
~8 hour decant. This is so good and insanely young for a 20 year old wine. Structure is starting to dial in with the fruit. Loads of licorice, florals and spice. Excellent.
Wow. Just a ridiculously expressive and refined 45 year old Barolo. The wine's balance is so precise. Great plum fruit that is laced with spice, herb, tar and dried florals. Long and intense.
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Classically Cristom with plenty of stem character and rich strawberry and cherry fruit. This is still quite young and even primary in nature. 5th vintage bottled by Cristom. No rush if you still have a bottle. Should hold for a decade+.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
An epic Bonnes Mares that is still fairly young, dense and structure. I love how refined this is despite it's heft and scale. Classic Dujac stem and spice. A glass on day two was going strong.
Nothing austere or light about this wine which transcends the vintage. Classic graphite and cedar interlaced with the dried plum fruits. Certainly should hold for 5-10 years.
Classically Sociando with beaming and effusive bell pepper aromatics. The palate is still quite young and fresh. Good round fruit with melded tannin. Delicious. A glass on day two was no different than day one.
Big nose is full of plum fruit, funk/poop and cedar. Plenty of rich, round fruit that is layered with good complexity. Excellent right banker from the 1990 vintage.
USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District
Decanted for a couple of hours. Classic Togni in that it shows Bordeaux character and structure in a California package. This is an awesome vintage that is really still in its infancy. Maybe another 5-10 years before it unfolds. Delicious now, but upside from here.
Terrific LMHB. Still bright and youthful with very classic character. Fruit is still fresh though shows more dry than fresh in character. Nice band-aid note adds complexity. Long, layered finish.
Wow, I love Forman Cabs, but have never had the '83 before. This is signature Forman with that intense tar component. Fruit is still forward and rich with plenty of structure. In a great spot now and should hold just fine for 10+ years.
