Lighter than many California Cabs, but full and velvety with a gentle tannin finish. Warmer than Italian reds. So well balanced. A joy to drink. I love this wine. (296 views) | | Tasted by wbduval on 12/16/2023 & rated 90 points: Decent, but a bit light in body and finish. Probably past its prime. (778 views) | | Tasted by enniszd on 11/23/2023: Past it's prime (673 views) | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 7/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Wonderful notes of cassis, currants, cedar, tobacco, oak spice, and cinnamon. Fine structure and balance, nice weight and density, with excellent length and persistence. Develops richness and flavor complexity with air, and displays the sense of style and elegance that Old World Cabs possess. (437 views) | | Tasted by Scorpion on 4/16/2023: This was a really nice surprise. Drank really well for us. The heavy oak has mellowed a lot. (1645 views) | | Tasted by jmleytem on 3/18/2023 & rated 90 points: Excellent. (2984 views) | | Tasted by bestdamncab on 8/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Nose of black cherry, red cherry, saddle leather, and black berry, on the palate, mouth filling, big body, very tasty, almost elegant, at its peak but good for 7 more years, long, lovely finish, photo uploaded. (2293 views) | | Tasted by WineGuyFL on 5/14/2021 & rated 93 points: This wine continues to be in a great drink window. Very much like a bottle from a year ago. Has developed a little more complexity. I still have no explanation why I have rated recent bottles of this one higher than with many other cellartracker.com tasters. (2919 views) | | Tasted by Winedoc22 on 1/30/2021 & rated 94 points: Drank beautifully - still with ripe blackberry and black cherry integrated with tobacco, smoke, leather and licorice. Smooth tannins. (2473 views) | | Tasted by JoeDwine on 1/23/2021 & rated 92 points: Very Good but not Great (2197 views) | | Tasted by spineguy on 1/2/2021 & rated 90 points: Prime drinking window and probably will be for at least another five years. Did not evolve much over a couple hours. Held up on night two but a bit muted then. Solid overall. Lots of dark stuff going on. Somewhat mono dimensional. Very consistent. (1919 views) | | Tasted by noshvegas on 12/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Christmas pairing ... didn’t need to wait any longer! Drink now. (1812 views) | | Tasted by Vintage wine on 10/24/2020: It was dry and chewy. It was good had it with Donnis and Bob at Verona BYOB 10/23/20 (2077 views) | | Tasted by jhornung on 9/5/2020: Drank at La Cucina in Palm Beach (770 views) | | Tasted by cbrachfeld on 8/2/2020 & rated 94 points: A delicioius wine. I'd say another five years in cellar would make it even better in that it's just a bit tight until it is swirled a bit. The body is full with garnet color and robust legs. There's a nice mouthfeel, ever so slightly viscous, and a complex and long finish. Shame it's our last bottle! (2068 views) | | Tasted by Lederhosen on 7/24/2020 & rated 91 points: I think this is good wine! All the Silver Oaks I have drunk over the years have been consistently and dependably good, as well as crowd pleasing. They seem to have consistency of flavors from year to year, so I have tried to start to noting the differences which is fun!
I tried this side by side with 2008. It tasted/smelled saltier, earthier, and less tart that the '08 which was a plus for me. I liked the oak. This one was a bit drier in the back of the mouth, long dark cherry and leather finish. (1896 views) | | Tasted by Case Knight on 6/5/2020 & rated 94 points: 94. Deep purple. Medium viscosity. Forest floor, dried fruit, citrus zest on the nose. Strawberry, black berry, slight pepper on the palette. Would drink again soon, do not see it improving much from here. Cooper's Oak Winery and OAK Cooperage, Duncan Family of Silver Oak, Visit and TourCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyAlexander Valley Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia
