Color was not promising. However this is surely burgundy. Forest floor, leaves, mushrooms, olive tapenade, maybe a hint of sandalwood. A very slight residual sweetness lingers but this is completely tertiary.

Second pour after an hour in the bottle, a bit more substance and a bit sweeter. An intellectual and enjoyable wine.

Opened as a ringer for D’auvenay night. This 2000 Coche Cailleret continues to impress. Served alongside D’auvenay 1999 Narvaux, 2000 Folatieres, 05 Folatieres, and 09 Narvaux, the 2000 Coche Caillerets was only behind the 2000 Folatieres for my tastes. Nose was classic Coche and palate had the impressive length, weight, and balance of a perfect specimen. Slightly darker than the 2000 Folatieres the palate was a little richer but the D’auvenay had an additional layer of brightness and magic. Another great night and great showing.

10/25/2014 11:57:00 AM - FYC- I don't recall ullage on the Dujac 1983 CdlR from this spring, but see it was opened at dinner with friends so I would have noted if the ullage was unusual. For a 1983 I would consider 2 cm normal, perhaps 2.5 cm. I would probably have noted anything lower in the tasting note.
