2019 Caterwaul Cabernet Sauvignon Cemetery Vineyard
5/1/2024 - AGELVIS Likes this wine: 95 Points
Two hour decant. Deep dark intense magenta color. Blackberry, stewed plum, semi-sweet chocolate, black cherry cobbler, cumin, and orange rind. Smooth, dry, medium+ bodied palate, with good, lingering acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This is improved from 18 months ago, when I tasted this at the winery in Calistoga (same property as Rivers-Marie, but different building). This kept improving over an hour of drinking. I hope to wait two years for the next bottle.

2018 Arkenstone Cabernet Sauvignon NVD

Two and a half hour decant. Deep dark intense magenta color. Blackberry pie, flourless chocolate cake, pistachio (with husk), cola, and subtle fern. Smooth, dry palate, with velvety, mouth filling acidity. Full tannins on the longish finish.
This has improved a bit since my last bottle (8 or 9 months ago). It’s still youthful and capable of handling a 4+ hour decant. Stayed the same or slightly improved over an hour of drinking.

2022 Stout Family Pinot Noir Rosé

PNP. Dark salmon color. Orange sherbet and cranberry dominate. Dry and quite tart palate. Very good acidity imparts excellent structure.
Apparently they purposely do long skin contact to give more impressive structure. This is unique and engaging, but not necessarily something I’d seek out.
