Not sure what to make of this wine. The color was a darker yellow. There were lots of tropical fruits but more like dried tropical fruits. Also, dried apples and some slate. Slatey finish, but rather short. Overall, a nice wine, but not that generous; this should show more vibrancy. I wonder if storage conditions are at play here, since this was purchased at retail after years on the shelf.

Riesling and Madeiras at Marco's (Milford, CT): Not that surprising that a Doctor GK Spätlese at this age is still showing incredibly young. There's barely any sign of development yet - it's packed with very fresh citrus, apple, and peachy fruit flavours tinged with honey and gentle mineral notes, showing lots of youthful sweetness and good acidity beneath. It's not especially complex now, but gives the impression that it's holding a lot in reserve and really needs time.
