  • Big wine. Amber color, with no hint of oxidation. Riesling nose, with lots of dry extract. The fruit seemed restrained on the palate, but the lengthy finish was a delightful conclusion.

  • Very light gold , bright Riesling nose limes and faintest suggestion of petrol. An improvement from 3 years ago more complexity and length but still with very fine fruit . Sadly , last bottle

  • Bright, mid gold. Much more mature looking than the last bottle about 11 months ago.
Similarly the nose feels more mature. Rich, honey, oily, with some slight petrol notes.
Feels fairly simple on the attack, but boy, there are all sorts of depths and complexities here, all in a beautifully balanced package. Good maturing riesling fruit, with lots of stony, almost flinty minerality. While there's a richness to the fruit, it finishes almost aggressively dry, with a bit of honeyed, raisiny riesling fruit right on the very finish.

  • Nose is exiting, green apple and some tropical fruits. Touch of petrol as per the norm.

Palette is delicious. Still some fruit around but oh god this is so balanced. Delicious minerality like the very best Chablis. Great finish, all round delicious.

This wine has such a fabulous sense of place. Wish I had more at the price I paid.

  • Pale (remarkably pale actually) green-tinged straw colour.
Soft peaches and tropical fruit on the nose, some light honey, just a touch of petrol.
Charming palate. Initially, you think there's not much to this, but then it just beguiles you and draws you into its luscious layers. There's a richness without any overbearing sweetness. Indeed it's not just very dry on the finish, it's almost agressively dry after, which you notice particularly as the length is quite remarkable.
Lovely poise and balance. Remarkably elegant. Very classy stuff from Hugel.

13% abv, but it feels lower.
