Retail $40. Given my last experience with this wine at the beginning of September, I thought it wise to pop the remaining six bottles of this wine in a timely fashion. While this is not quite as dark or as oxidized as the last iteration, this wine, too, is oxidized. Having said that, this is actually delightful. Tons of petrol on the nose with ripe lemon and green apple. Tart, slightly sweet, and nutty on the palate with depth and incredible length. Fantastic, even.
Retail $40. I bought eight bottles of this in 2012 from Last Bottle Wines and I opened the first within a year of the purchase. Then I waited a solid eight years to open the second bottle. Why? I have no earthly idea, but this is now the fourth bottle I have cracked and, well, I might need to get to the others post-haste. Why? This bottle is not straw, not yellow, not even "golden". No, this wine is *amber* and clearly oxidized. Still, there is some fruit, considerable acidity, and even some verve. But this has to be Unrated due to the clear flaw.
Retail $40. It has been a couple of years since I have popped a bottle of this wine and while there has been some change, the change is at worst? Quite good, in fact. Plenty of fruit (green apple, pineapple, ripe peach) and a boatload of that petrol-like goodness that defines great Rieslings. Yowza. This is rich, tart, expressive, and frankly, delicious. I am glad that I have another handful of bottles to go. Excellent.
Toffee, fudge, caramel, dried lemon peel, spicy, still racy acidity, mature complexity but not old, fruity sweetness but not sticky, a delight. 2 bottles left, promise to restrain myself to wait more years to see how it develops.
