  • My wife drank the lion’s share of this as I am recovering from surgery, and she raved about it. I secured a small glass and had to agree with her on how delicious this was. Great nose of white flowers and crushed stone. Delicate orchard fruits throughout. The body is cloud-like, almost reminding me of some of the Hudson high-end Chardonnays in weight and delicacy. Some tropical notes and very moderate acidity, just enough to give it a perfect lift. Interestingly it had a touch of oak that came through on the back end, for seemingly a moment. Really gorgeous wine with a certain elegance.

  • Solvang Bros and Hos (Solvang, CA): Never had the single vineyard bottling of this Chardonnay before. This is very nice, the nose, very expressive with yellow fruit. The wine is fruit forward, but not sweet. Predominantly yellow fruit on the attack, but immediately followed with mouth puckering acidity. Nice combination of stone fruit, pear, and topical notes.

  • This offering has something for everyone. It enchants those who prefer a more French style of Chardonnay, i.e. lean and crisp, as well as those who like a touch of oak. Citrus, apricot and mango kissed by minerals and brioche. An elegant, beautiful wine. Will be interesting to see what a few years of cellar time does to this. Drink now to 2028. Outstanding.

  • Two barrels of this were deemed "too good" for the regular LF White Hill, and bottled on their own. I am glad they were, as this was a delicious expression of Spear Vineyard!

White flowers, ripe yellow peach (especially the skin of the fruit), ripe pear, ripe yellow apple, wet stone and fresh cut grass on the nose. More aromatic than White Hill, with a high intensity of aromas. The palate adds lemon curd, coconut cream and ripe green melon. It keeps the peach and the tree fruit from the nose. Most of the oak flavors come out toward the finish. Medium + intensity of flavors.

Medium + body with medium + acid. Developing. Can drink now; but will likely continue to improve in 3-5 years.
