Poached quince nose, with a bit of brown spice. I detected a bit of mealiness, a quality I get in older Meursault wines. I understand the previous entry that cited oxidation. There’s a bit of toasted pecan and mushroom on the finish. The acidity helps the wine retain some freshness. There is some chalk in the equation, too. Despite the talk of oxidation, the wine has been opened now for 48 hours and has not faltered.

The Chenin Blanc grape truly exhibits a chameleon-like capacity to shine in dry, sweet, and sparkling wines. Among these expressions, the Les Argiles 2018 from François Chidaine stands out as a superb dry variant from Touraine Loire Valley, displaying a captivating straw yellow clarity.
On the palate, the wine reveals a bouquet of mature prune, quince, and a zesty twist of preserved lemon, all underlaid with a whisper of chamomile. The palate the richness of this wine is perfectly balanced by a lively & crisp acidity. The wine benefits from a short decant.
Drinking nicely now, the Les Argiles 2018 also hints at a potential for further graceful aging. There's no rush to enjoy this wine, as its quality suggests it will only improve with time.
My personal recommendation is to serve it alongside a succulent filet of loup de mer, with a silky beurre blanc sauce, and accompanied by char-grilled baby lettuce.

This was a light golden color and seemed slightly oxidized. While it was pleasant to drink with a strong honey flavor, it lacked the aromatic complexity and mineral mouth feel that this wine usually has. I am concerned that this was a partially flawed bottle.

90 Buen vino, muy Loira. Amarillo verdoso. Nariz huidiza, poco intensa. Algo de ceras. En boca es amplio, voluminoso, con textura cremosa. Buen final, limpio y con acidez.

Lovely bottle paired with a baked ham. Notes of apples and pears, some herbal notes and spice on the back end, with plenty of acid to counter the fat in the ham. Delicious food wine.
