Really impressive smoke oak and fruit nose. An austerity in the palette suggesting components still welding together. But this is seriously good Chardonnay for the price. Buy.

Grape, Grain and Graze Festival (Sydney showgrounds, Sydney): Struck match notes slightly dominate the nose, bullying citrus and apple over stone fruit, slight sweet spice. Tight with lots of textured, fruit is muted, tangy notes. Time required but pleasant enough.
