  • This is a fantastic Grüner Veltliner from producer Ludwig Hiedler grown in estate owned vineyards on sandy and gravel soils. Ludwig only does spontaneous fermentations without enzymes or even SO2, and without temperature control. This is an absolutely gorgeous white with a honeyed, apricot nose and minerality to boot! On the palate the wine is rich and fat (14.5% abv) but the natural acidity keeps everything in balance, the finish was elegant and the wine did drop a little sediment near the end of the bottle, more flavor I say! Precise and sublime this wine was fantastic with the spicy cuisine we had at Tee Nee Thai restaurant in San Jose. The bottle was only $38 on the restaurant wine list, a definite steal! My only negative was we drank it so quickly.
