  • Said to be a BDX blend of 79% CS, 12% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 2% CF, 2% PV / 36% new oak / I believe 12-28yr old Estate Vines. Opened 3hrs B4 dinner & finding it already inviting simply slow-oxed the resto of the way in Riedel BDXs. Prefect with burger sliders tonight! $19.99 locally makes this a terrific value! Deep almost opaque ruby red. Enticing aromas of sweet berries & spice. Whatever oak there may be is well integrated on the nose & palate both. Exceedingly well balanced with an energetic mid weight mouthfeel that's never ponderous. 13.5% Alc goes unnoticed. Palate delivers youthfully vibrant raspberry, plum & cherry fruit along with faint expresso & herb notes. This reminds me of the basic Inglenook Napa Valley Cabs of the 60s. Not the Cask which showed less fruit and more tannic. My dad sold those 60s NV Cab for around $4 & the Cask for around $7.50. This $20 Dry Creek Hillside & Benchland is quite reminiscent of the lower cost non Cask Inglenook! Maybe a touch less rich? 91+
