A rather humdrum cab franc here. It's a markedly dry affair, with a medium body giving way to nicely integrated medium tannins and a balanced acidity. Oak, potting soil, vanilla, dark plum and slight a floral perfume come through on the nose while red cherry, tobacco, red plum, green bell peper pyrazines, blackberry, stems and black peppercorns on the palate add to the chorus. It's nice profile on paper, but this Catena offering needs more oomph and temerity to be anything memorable. Simply put, it lacks depth, and considering Argentina has a number of much more captivating takes on this varietal for a similar price, you might be left wanting with this selection.

Medium body, berries black cherries on the nose. Strong berry on the palat with a finish of leather. Medium tannin and lighter acid. Pair with lighter fare.

Bottle # 3 , consistent notes a year later.... On nose: an expansion of aromatics, including hibiscus flower and tomato plant. On palate: above flavour notes, with brick dust , boysenberry and darker notes of coffee.....the oak and tannins have woven into an even more balanced wine, displayed on a full flavoured medium body. Would serve well with pork tenderloin, or veal rib chops.

Vanilla and coconut from the oak dominants the aroma. Also, contains notes of plum and green stem. The body is medium-plus. The acidity and tannins are medium. Overall, it’s an oak forward cab franc.
