Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): There’s definitely a personal preference to all of this but for me I found myself liking the Rose Saignees a fair amount. It is true that they can change year to year and the maceration is a different style but I feel like they create more of a wine versus the assemblage (although there’s a time and place for both). 2014 vintage. 100% Pinot Noir. 3 days of maceration so this is quite dark and deep. 4 grams dosage. It’s all of the blackberrys and dark tart fruits. Lots of berries but more in the black and blue style. Tart. Wants food. I can see this with more game dishes or to support a BBQ.

This pours medium salmon in the glass. The nose is lovely showing strawberry danish, whisps of caramel, chalk, cotton candy, and cherry blossom. The palate enters on bright white and red cherry notes, turning to low dosage, which feels like 4 g/l, and medium plus acid. The texture on this is nice. The finish closes out on white and red cherries and chalky soil tones. This champagne really nicely balances the line between elegant and rich, and would pleasing to many palates with our without food. Very nicely done.

4g/L, but sweeter from base. Darker colour than expected. Tobacco leaf, cassis, woody, strawberry jam. Not a strawberry rose. Lighter on the palate than the nose.

Deep color. Aromas of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, red currant. Fresh, presence of some tannins, taste of cherry and strawberry.
